Job Description

Responsibilities

Overview

Oversee the financial accounting deliverables undertaken within Malaysia, including Financial Control, Accounts Payable, Performance Management, and HO and Statutory Reporting. Manage the team to ensure all reporting meets RBC and statutory requirements (e.g., Standard of Documentation packages, SOX, GL attestation, local regulatory survey and declaration, and Finance and Tax submissions to home authorities).

Lead the team to complete year-end audits and ensure financial statements are accurately prepared and submitted in a timely manner.

Responsibilities
  • Review financial reports prepared and attend meetings with stakeholders for financial presentation.
  • Assist with the annual budget and regular forecasts for Malaysia businesses in partnership with business/function managers.
  • Enhance the business partnering capabilities of Malaysia Finance in support of country and business strategies.
  • Conduct robust reviews of business and function costs; recommend and support cost-saving initiatives.
  • Actively participate in local and global projects, including driving continuous process improvements such as report standardization and centralization of processes.
  • Support the Head of Finance by providing input on strategy, priorities and team management, including succession planning for key roles.
  • Identify high-performing individuals and provide future career paths and development opportunities.
  • Ensure processes and standards of documentation are aligned with best practices and maintain operational discipline through current documentation.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Experience in Financial Accounting, Financial Control, Accounts Payable, and statutory reporting.
  • Ability to manage year-end audits and ensure timely, accurate financial statements.
  • Strong partnership and stakeholder engagement skills for financial presentations.
  • Budgeting, forecasting, and business partnering capabilities for multinational settings.
  • Knowledge of cost management, process improvement, and standardization initiatives.
  • Experience with SOX, GL attestation, regulatory submissions, and tax submissions to authorities.
  • Proficiency in GAAP and general ledger administration; ability to lead process improvements and maintain documentation standards.
  • People management, succession planning, and talent development.
