Role Description The Maintenance & Equipment Section Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Ipoh, responsible for leading the maintenance and equipment team within a high-technology semiconductor manufacturing environment. This role oversees preventive and corrective maintenance activities, equipment reliability programs, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure optimal production performance and minimal downtime. The manager plans and prioritizes maintenance schedules, coordinates spare parts and tooling availability, and ensures compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards. Daily responsibilities include monitoring equipment performance data, troubleshooting complex equipment issues, collaborating with engineering and production teams on process improvements, and implementing best practices for asset management. The role also involves coaching and developing team members, managing budgets, preparing operational reports, and supporting new equipment installation, qualification, and technology upgrades.

Qualifications

  • Strong maintenance and equipment management skills, including preventive and corrective maintenance planning, equipment reliability, and asset management.
  • Technical competence in semiconductor manufacturing equipment, automation systems, and related mechanical, electrical, or electronic engineering principles.
  • Proficiency in production support and continuous improvement methodologies such as root cause analysis, Lean, and basic problem-solving tools.
  • Experience with safety, quality, and environmental standards, and familiar with industry certifications and compliance requirements.
  • Effective leadership and people management skills, including team development, performance management, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and prepare clear reports and documentation.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, or related field) or equivalent technical qualification; advanced certifications in maintenance or reliability are an advantage.
  • Previous experience in semiconductor, electronics, or high-volume manufacturing environments is highly beneficial.
