About the role

We are seeking an experienced Account Executive to join Sutera Sanctuary Lodges in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. This is a full-time position that plays a vital role in managing our financial operations and maintaining accurate accounting records for our hospitality business. As an Account Executive, you will be responsible for overseeing bookkeeping functions and providing essential financial support that ensures the smooth operation of our lodges. This position offers the opportunity to work within a dynamic hospitality environment whilst utilising your accounting expertise to contribute to the organisation's financial health and strategic decision-making.

Key responsibilities

1. Manage daily bookkeeping activities including accounts payable and receivable, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and processed in a timely manner

2. Prepare and maintain general ledger accounts, reconciling bank statements and identifying any discrepancies

3. Process payroll documentation and maintain employee records in accordance with regulatory requirements

4. Generate monthly financial reports and statements for management review and analysis

5. Assist with the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts to support business planning

6. Liaise with external auditors and tax consultants to ensure compliance with accounting standards and tax regulations

7. Manage accounts and maintain clear communication with internal stakeholders regarding financial matters

8. Support the implementation and maintenance of accounting systems and procedures

9. Handle invoicing, expense tracking and financial documentation for the lodge operations

What we're looking for

1. Proven experience in bookkeeping or small practice accounting, ideally within the hospitality or service industry

2. Strong proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel

3. Solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards

4. Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines

5. Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in all financial documentation and reporting

6. Strong numerical and analytical capabilities with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies

7. Professional communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues at all levels

8. Relevant accounting qualifications or certifications such as a diploma in accounting or equivalent experience

9. Knowledge of Malaysian tax regulations and compliance requirements would be advantageous

10. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information professionally
