A Safety Assistant is an entry-level role focused on supporting the implementation of workplace safety and health programs. The job scope is largely practical and hands-on, centered around prevention, inspection, and documentation.

Core Responsibilities
- Safety Inspections and Hazard Identification: Regularly inspecting work areas to identify unsafe conditions, practices, or faulty equipment. This involves documenting findings and taking appropriate action to correct issues. Conducting Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Risk Control (HIRARC) is a key part of this.
- Incident Investigation and Reporting: Assisting in the investigation of accidents, near-misses, and occupational diseases. This includes documenting the root causes and maintaining detailed records of all incidents to help prevent future occurrences.
- Training and Awareness: Educating employees on safety rules, proper equipment usage, and accident prevention techniques. You may be involved in conducting new worker orientations, safety briefings, and toolbox talks.
- Documentation and Compliance: Maintaining accurate records of safety inspections, training sessions, incidents, and safety data sheets (SDS). This role ensures that all safety documentation is up-to-date and audit-ready.
- Emergency Preparedness: Supporting the preparation and execution of emergency drills, such as fire evacuation simulations, to ensure workers are ready for emergencies.
Requirements:
