Job Summary

Responsible for manufacturing, repairing, modifying, and maintaining mechanical parts, machine components, and equipment required to support plant operations. The role involves operating conventional and CNC machine tools, interpreting engineering drawings, performing precision measurements, and ensuring all machining work meets quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate conventional machining equipment such as:
• Lathe machine
• Milling machine
• Surface grinder
• Drilling machine
• Band saw
• CNC machining equipment (where applicable)
• Fabricate, repair, and modify machine parts, jigs, fixtures, dies, shafts, bushings, rollers, and other mechanical components.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
• Measure machined parts using precision measuring instruments, including:
• Vernier calipers
• Micrometers
• Dial indicators
• Height gauges
• Perform preventive maintenance on workshop machinery and equipment.
• Assist the maintenance team during equipment breakdowns by producing replacement parts when required.
• Conduct troubleshooting on worn or damaged mechanical components and recommend repair solutions.

Job Requirements

Education

• Certificate, Diploma, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Machining Technology, Tool & Die, Precision Engineering, or a related field.

Experience

• Minimum 2–5 years of machining experience in manufacturing, industrial maintenance, or heavy industry.
• Experience in aluminium manufacturing or heavy industrial plants is an added advantage.

Technical Skills

• Proficient in operating manual machining equipment.
• Knowledge of CNC machining is an advantage.
• Able to read engineering drawings and mechanical blueprints.
• Familiar with machining tolerances and precision measurements.
• Basic welding and fabrication knowledge is an advantage.
• Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic components is beneficial.
• Ensure machining tolerances and finished products comply with engineering specifications.
• Maintain proper housekeeping of the machine shop and ensure all tools are stored correctly.
• Follow all company safety procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Comply with Quality Management System (QMS), Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS), and company policies.
• Maintain records of machining work, repairs, and fabricated components.
• Assist with equipment installation, modification, and improvement projects.
• Support emergency maintenance activities whenever required.
• Perform any other duties assigned by management.
