Job Responsibilities
- Coordinate customs clearance activities by acting as the primary liaison between customers, Customs Brokers, internal operations teams, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth clearance of import and export shipments.
- Provide timely shipment status updates and customs clearance visibility to customers and internal teams, ensuring service standards and transit time commitments are met.
- Review shipment documentation and determine shipment values based on local customs valuation guidelines before forwarding information to the Customs Broker for declaration processing.
- Prepare and compile the necessary customs documentation and supporting documents to facilitate accurate import and export declarations by the Customs Broker.
- Liaise with customers to obtain missing shipment information, supporting documents, permits, or declarations required for customs clearance.
- Advise customers on applicable duties, taxes, and customs requirements, and obtain approval for duty and tax payments where necessary.
- Coordinate with the Customs Broker to resolve documentation discrepancies, valuation queries, customs inspections, or shipment holds.
- Monitor the progress of inbound and outbound customs clearance activities, proactively following up to ensure shipments are released within established clearance performance targets and transit times.
- Maintain accurate customer records, shipment information, and clearance documentation in company systems.
- Escalate complex customs or customer issues to the Customs Broker or relevant internal departments for timely resolution.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, customs regulations, and service quality standards while delivering a high level of customer service.
Job Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, International Business, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in logistics, freight forwarding, customs clearance coordination, import/export operations, or customer service within the transportation industry.
- Experience coordinating with Customs Brokers, freight forwarders, shipping lines, or government authorities is an advantage.
- Good understanding of import/export processes and customs clearance documentation.
- Strong customer service experience with the ability to communicate effectively with customers regarding shipment status, documentation, duties, and taxes.
- Familiarity with shipping documents such as Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists, Bills of Lading, Air Waybills, and Certificates of Origin.
- Strong coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; experience with logistics or customs systems is an added advantage.
Pay: RM3,720.00 - RM4,920.00 per month
