Responsibilities
Key Accountabilities:
Execute maintenance and repair work for train components and rolling stock in accordance with established maintenance procedures, both within and outside the maintenance depot.
Diagnose faults, identify defects, and carry out repair works, including replacement of defective components.
Continuously improve maintenance work procedures to enhance the reliability and availability of electric train sets.
Ensure all scheduled maintenance activities, defect reporting, and special tasks are carried out in accordance with the approved maintenance plan and operational requirements.
Perform testing and inspection of train systems and components to ensure maintenance quality and compliance with specified technical standards.
Carry out modification and corrective works on components to prevent recurring operational failures.
Assist other departments in resolving maintenance-related issues, including accident recovery and incident response cases.
Record and report daily work activities to the supervising officer in compliance with ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System requirements.
Monitor availability of spare parts and materials required for maintenance activities.
Ensure proper usage, care, and storage of hand tools provided by management.
Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the workplace before, during, and after duties in accordance with 5S workplace organization practices.
Ensure compliance by all supervised staff with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements, safe work procedures, and KTMB Occupational Safety, Health and Environmental (OSHE) policies.
Qualifications & Experience:
Possess a minimum of a Certificate, Diploma, or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Railway Engineering, or related technical disciplines from a recognized institution.
Preferably possess 1–3 years of working experience in rolling stock maintenance, railway systems, heavy industrial equipment, manufacturing plants, automotive maintenance, or other related maintenance environments. Fresh graduates with relevant technical qualifications and strong aptitude may also be considered.
Knowledge of preventive and corrective maintenance practices, troubleshooting techniques, and repair methodologies for electrical and mechanical systems.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, electrical schematics, maintenance manuals, and engineering documentation.
Experience in conducting inspection, testing, fault diagnosis, and replacement of defective components using appropriate tools and testing equipment.
Knowledge of Occupational Safety, Health and Environmental (OSHE) requirements, safe work practices, PPE usage, and 5S workplace organization principles.
Familiarity with Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001:2015), maintenance documentation, and reporting procedures is an added advantage.
Possess good analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Willing to work on shifts, perform duties within and outside the maintenance depot, and respond to emergency breakdowns, incident recovery, and special maintenance assignments as required.
Proficient in basic computer applications such as Microsoft Office and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) would be an added advantage.
Possess good communication skills in Bahasa Malaysia and English, both written and spoken.
