We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical design and execution of custom industrial automation and robotic systems. This role is responsible for driving projects from concept development through detailed engineering, fabrication, assembly, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), installation, and customer handover.

You will serve as the technical lead for mechanical engineering activities while mentoring junior engineers and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality automation solutions for multinational manufacturers.

• Lead mechanical design activities for automation machines and robotic systems.

• Review and approve mechanical designs, engineering drawings, BOMs, and design calculations.

• Develop innovative machine concepts that improve manufacturability, reliability, and performance.

• Perform engineering calculations including structural analysis, tolerance stack-up, motion system sizing, and component selection.

• Establish and maintain mechanical design standards and best practices.

• Lead multiple engineering projects simultaneously while ensuring schedule, quality, and cost objectives are achieved.

• Coordinate with Electrical, Controls, Software, Procurement, Fabrication, and Assembly teams.

• Conduct design reviews and resolve complex engineering issues.

• Manage technical risks throughout the project lifecycle.

• Support customer technical discussions and project planning.

• Oversee fabrication and machine assembly to ensure compliance with engineering requirements.

• Lead FAT, SAT, machine commissioning, and customer acceptance.

• Troubleshoot complex mechanical issues during machine startup and site installation.

• Provide technical leadership during customer support activities.

• Mentor and coach junior mechanical engineers.

• Review engineering work before release.

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and design standardization.

• Support R&D and new technology development in robotics and automation.

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent.

• Minimum 5 years experience in automation machine design or custom machinery.

• Expert proficiency in SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD software.

• Strong knowledge of motion systems, servo applications, pneumatics, machine structures, precision assembly, and DFM.

• Experience leading projects from concept through commissioning.

• Experience in semiconductor, HDD, electronics, or precision manufacturing is highly preferred.

• Ability to mentor engineers and lead cross-functional engineering teams.

• Excellent communication and project coordination skills.

• Willing to travel and be stationed in Johor when required.
