Responsibilities
i. Meets the patient’s goals and needs and provides quality care by assessing patient’s activity daily living, cognitive, school readiness and leisure/play and interpreting evaluation and test results, determining occupational therapy treatment plans in consultation with physicians or by prescription.
ii. Helping the patient in sensory integration issues, cognitive functions movement and coordination problem by using the structured play and fun activities in helping them developing their readiness to the school, organization of task and behavior skills, refinement of motor skills and educating them in self-care abilities; especially for the older children.
iii. Consult with family members and other health care professionals involved on the patient’s rehab team, as needed, from initial assessment through to discharge.
iv. Make appropriate service recommendations (e.g., increase/decrease therapy) as a result of testing, clinical judgment and patient’s needs.
v. Make recommendations regarding the use and/or adjustment of orthotics, prosthetics; and other appliances used to support and assist the mobility of the patient.
vi. Preserves and protects patient confidentiality in all situations and with all documentation.
vii. Ensure that verbal and written communications including tone, demeanor and content with patients and parents are at times professional, appropriate and respectful.
i. Properly and accurately documents/charts observations and other data related to the clinical condition of the patient.
ii. Develop and write required reports, according to specified formats, to determine patient current level of functioning.
iii. Organize and maintain required daily treatment notes and records for each patient.
i. Attends and participates in continuing education programs to monitor proficiency, expand current knowledge and enhance professional excellence.
ii. Willingly shares knowledge and provides clinical orientation to other members of the staff.
i. Demonstrates professionalism as a healthcare professional by being punctual and dependable for assigned/confirmed work task.
i. Follows therapy schedule established by Occupational Therapy Department Head.
ii. Submit recommendations regarding equipment and supplies to Occupational Therapy Department Head.
