JOB SUMMARY:

The General Maintenance (Electrical) is responsible for carrying out routine inspection, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of electrical systems and equipment within shopping all. The role supports the Engineering Department in ensuring all electrical installations, lighting systems and building services operate safely, efficiently and with minimal disruption to tenants and visitors.

1. Electrical Maintenance

• Carry out routine inspection and maintenance of electrical installations.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance according to the maintenance schedule.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical faults promptly.
• Replace faulty electrical components such as switches, sockets, circuit breakers, lamps and lighting fixtures.
• Ensure all electrical work complies with company safety procedures.

2. Building Electrical Systems

Assist in the maintenance and monitoring of:

• Lighting systems
• Distribution Boards (DB)
• Main Switchboard (MSB)
• Low Voltage Switchboard (LVSB)
• Emergency lighting
• Exit signage
• Power sockets and wiring
• Electrical panels
• Electrical motors
• Standby generator (basic inspection and support)
• UPS systems
• Earthing systems

3. Preventative Maintenance

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance of electrical equipment.
• Conduct routine testing of emergency lighting and electrical systems.
• Maintain maintenance records and checklists.
• Report abnormalities and recommend corrective actions.
• Ensure tools and equipment are in good working condition.

4. Repair & Troubleshooting

• Respond promptly to electrical breakdowns and maintenance requests.
• Diagnose electrical problems and perform necessary repairs.
• Assist in restoring electrical services during power interruptions.
• Escalate major faults to the Chargeman or Maintenance Manager when necessary.

5. Mall Facilities Support

• Attend to electrical maintenance requests from tenants and internal departments.
• Assist in preparing electrical supply for promotional events and exhibitions.
• Ensure common areas, public facilities and offices remain properly illuminated.
• Support routine maintenance of building services and facilities.

6. Safety & Compliance

• Follow all workplace safety procedures and electrical safe work practices.
• Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while carrying out duties.
• Maintain good housekeeping in electrical rooms and work areas.
• Report unsafe conditions and electrical hazards immediately.
• Assist in complying with statutory inspections and safety requirements.

7. Inventory & Equipment

• Maintain tools, testing instruments and maintenance equipment.
• Monitor stock levels of electrical spare parts and consumables.
• Report shortages and damaged tools.
• Ensure proper storage of electrical materials and equipment.

8. Documentation & Reporting

• Complete maintenance reports and work orders.
• Record all maintenance activities accurately.
• Report equipment failures and recommend improvements.
• Maintain proper documentation of repair works and inspections.

9. Emergency & Operational Support

• Attend emergency electrical breakdowns after office hours when required.
• Support emergency response during power failures, water leakages and fire incidents.
• Assist other maintenance personnel during major repair works.
• Participate in emergency drills and maintenance standby duties.

10. Other Duties

• Assist the Chargeman and Maintenance Manager in daily engineering operations.
• Support maintenance activities involving mechanical, plumbing and general building repairs whenever required.
• Maintain a clean and organized workshop and maintenance store.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the Chargeman, Maintenance Manager or Management from time to time.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

• At least SPM or Vocational Certificate (SKM) in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 2-3 years of experience in electrical maintenance.
• Experience in shopping malls, commercial buildings, hotels or mixed developments is an advantage.
• Basic knowledge of electrical wiring, lighting systems and building electrical services.
• Able to read electrical drawings and use electrical testing equipment.
• Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willing to work shifts, weekends, public holidays and attend emergency call-outs when required.

Pay: RM1,700.00 - RM2,000.00 per month
