The Factory Manager is responsible for leading overall factory operations to ensure safe, efficient and cost-effective production. The role oversees production, engineering, maintenance, utilities, quality, inventory and logistics while ensuring compliance with regulatory, safety and quality standards to achieve operational and business objectives.
Job Description
- Lead and manage overall factory operations to ensure safe, efficient and cost-effective production.
- Plan, coordinate and monitor daily production activities to achieve production targets, cargo readiness, product quality and delivery schedules.
- Plan and monitor feedstock, inventory and production requirements to support operational and customer needs.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, maximize yield and minimize production losses.
- Oversee engineering, maintenance and utility functions to ensure maximum equipment reliability, plant availability and effective preventive maintenance.
- Identify and resolve operational, production and engineering issues by providing effective troubleshooting and technical solutions.
- Ensure compliance with occupational safety, health, environmental and statutory requirements, including DOSH, DOE and other applicable regulations, while supporting internal and external audits.
- Ensure compliance with quality, food safety, sustainability and certification requirements, including MSPO, RSPO, ISCC, HACCP and GMP standards.
- Manage production planning, inventory and logistics to support customer requirements and export schedules.
- Lead, coach and develop production, engineering and support teams while promoting a strong safety and performance culture.
- Prepare, monitor and review the factory operating budget, KPIs and performance reports, implementing corrective actions where necessary.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Science or a related discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in palm oil downstream manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a senior management role.
- Strong experience managing palm oil refinery, fractionation, kernel crushing plant or other edible oil processing operations.
- Sound knowledge of palm oil manufacturing processes, production planning, quality management, engineering and maintenance.
- Good knowledge of occupational safety, health and environmental regulations, particularly DOSH and DOE requirements.
- Familiarity with MSPO, RSPO, ISCC, HACCP, GMP and other relevant industry standards.
- Experience leading large operational teams in a continuous manufacturing environment.
- Strong leadership, analytical, problem-solving, decision-making and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and production management systems.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet operational deadlines.
- Strong commitment to quality, safety and continuous improvement.
- Possession of a Steam Engineer Certificate of Competency or other relevant technical certification is an added advantage.
- Willing to be based in Lahad Datu, Sabah.
