Position: Retail Assistant
Department: Retail Operations
Reports To: Store Supervisor / Outlet Head
Job Summary
The Retail Assistant is responsible for providing excellent customer service, maintaining store presentation, handling cashier duties, and ensuring shelves are well-stocked and organized. The role requires assisting customers with book selections, promoting products, and supporting daily bookstore operations.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service
- Greet and assist customers in a friendly and professional manner.
- Recommend books, gifts, stationery, and other products based on customer needs.
- Respond to customer inquiries and resolve basic concerns promptly.
Sales & Cashiering
- Process sales transactions accurately using the POS system.
- Handle cash, credit card, e-wallet, and other payment methods.
- Promote ongoing promotions, membership programs, and new arrivals.
- Achieve sales targets and contribute to store performance.
Merchandising & Stock Management
- Replenish stock on shelves and display areas.
- Ensure books and products are arranged neatly and according to planograms.
- Conduct stock counts and assist with inventory management.
- Report low stock levels, damaged items, and discrepancies to supervisors.
Store Operations
- Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of the store at all times.
- Assist in receiving and checking deliveries.
- Support store events, promotions, and special sales activities.
- Follow company SOPs, policies, and safety procedures.
Requirements
- Minimum SPM or equivalent qualification.
- Previous retail experience is an advantage, preferably in bookstores or specialty retail.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Customer-oriented with a positive attitude.
- Able to work on weekends, public holidays, and shift schedules.
- Basic computer and cashiering skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Pay: From RM1,800.00 per month
