About the role

As a Tax Associate at S.C. YONG CHIA & CO., you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive tax advisory and compliance services to a diverse range of clients. This full-time position is based in the vibrant city of Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, offering you the opportunity to contribute to the success of a well-established accounting firm while enjoying the unique culture and natural beauty of the region.

What you'll be doing

1. Preparing and filing accurate tax returns for individual and corporate clients

2. Conducting tax planning and strategising to optimise clients' tax positions

3. Researching and interpreting tax laws, regulations and case law to provide sound advice

4. Collaborating with clients and other professionals to identify tax-saving opportunities

5. Assisting with tax audit and investigation matters

6. Staying up-to-date with changes in tax legislation and best practices

7. Contributing to the development of tax-related tools, templates and training resources

What we're looking for

1. A Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field

2. Professional tax qualification (e.g. CPA, ACCA) or strong progress towards attainment

3. 1-3 years of relevant tax experience, preferably in a public accounting or professional services environment

4. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail

5. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with clients and colleagues

6. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team

7. Familiarity with tax software and technology tools

8. Enthusiasm for staying up-to-date with changes in the tax landscape
