A Purchaser (or Purchasing Executive) in a plastic material company is responsible for sourcing and procuring raw materials (like resins, masterbatches, and additives) at the best prices. They manage vendor relationships, negotiate terms, and ensure timely delivery to prevent production delays. The responsibilities and requirements for this role are typically categorized as follows:

Core Responsibilities

• Sourcing & Supplier Management: Identify reliable suppliers for raw materials, negotiate pricing, and establish long-term contracts to ensure supply stability.
• Procurement Planning: Monitor inventory levels and analyze usage forecasts to issue Purchase Orders (POs)
• Cost & Market Analysis: Track global resin pricing and market trends to capitalize on cost-saving opportunities and manage purchasing budgets. [
• Quality & Issue Resolution: Collaborate closely with Quality Assurance (QA) and production teams. Resolve issues related to material defects, incorrect shipments, or delivery delays.
• Documentation & ERP Management: Maintain accurate purchasing records, process invoices, and manage inventory data using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) or Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems.

Key Requirements & Skills

• Industry Knowledge: Understanding of plastic production processes (e.g., injection molding, extrusion) and raw material types is highly preferred.
• Negotiation & Communication: Strong capability to negotiate contracts and communicate effectively with internal departments and external suppliers.
• Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills to compare quotations, analyze costs, and manage procurement risks.
• System Proficiency: Familiarity with standard office software (especially Excel) and procurement software.
• Qualifications: Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or Engineering. Experience in the manufacturing or plastics sector is a major advantage

Pay: RM2,500.00 - RM3,500.00 per month
