About the role

Oriental Sunrise Engineering Sdn. Bhd is seeking a skilled and dedicated Mechanic to join our team on a full-time basis in Lahad Datu, Sabah. This role is essential to the smooth operation of our construction equipment and machinery, ensuring that all mechanical systems are maintained at peak performance. The Mechanic will play a vital part in supporting our construction operations by keeping our fleet of equipment in optimal working condition, thereby minimising downtime and maximising project efficiency.

Key responsibilities

1. Perform routine maintenance and servicing on construction equipment and machinery, including inspections, repairs and replacements of worn or damaged parts

2. Diagnose mechanical problems using diagnostic tools and equipment, and develop effective solutions to resolve issues promptly

3. Conduct preventative maintenance schedules to ensure all machinery operates safely and efficiently

4. Repair and maintain engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems and other mechanical components

5. Keep accurate records of all maintenance work performed, repairs completed and parts utilised

6. Ensure all work is completed in compliance with safety standards and company procedures

7. Communicate with site supervisors and project managers regarding equipment status and any maintenance concerns

8. Maintain a clean and organised workshop, ensuring all tools and equipment are properly stored and maintained

9. Assist in training junior mechanics and supporting the development of the maintenance team

What we're looking for

1. Proven experience as a Mechanic, preferably within the construction industry or heavy equipment maintenance

2. Strong technical knowledge of diesel and petrol engines, hydraulic systems and electrical systems

3. Proficiency in using mechanical tools, diagnostic equipment and workshop machinery

4. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints and maintenance schedules

5. Valid driver's licence and willingness to operate company vehicles when necessary

6. Physical fitness and ability to perform tasks requiring manual labour and working at heights

7. Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high safety standards

8. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team

9. Good communication skills and ability to document work completed accurately

10. Relevant mechanical qualifications or certifications would be advantageous
