Job Description
Having solid technical skills that enable you to support all types of clientele with their AV requirements is essential. The skills required will include proficient use of the in-house equipment and ensuring we deliver solutions to clientele that need to customize their AV experiences including demonstrating how the equipment is best utilized for each client. To working alongside large international AV contractors that require insights on the best use of the in-house equipment and space.
There is a strong focus on customer management, requirement to meet and communication options available to customers prior to their event and ensure their AV experience during their event exceeds their expectations
Responsibilities
As the AV Technician, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:
- To engage and support the Meetings and Events team as they prepare events and communicate with clients in advance of their event.
- Proactively communicate with clients in advance of their event to ensure we understand the AV experience they wish to design for their delegates which includes sourcing any additional services or equipment that is not owned by Hilton KL from 3rd party operators.
- Responsible for ensuring each banqueting event order is discussed with the Meetings & Events team and ensuring all pre-agreed equipment and services are arranged and ready for the client to use before the organizer of the event arrives on event day.
- Responsible for meeting and introducing yourself to the organizer, explaining how to operate the equipment, ensure the client hardware/software interfaces with property equipment, maintain contact throughout the day to ensure the full AV experience meets the organizers requirements.
- Have the capability to make quick decisions and provide solutions to clients that make last minute decisions to provide confidence to organizers that their event will run well, regardless of the late nature of their request or need.
- Continue to build the Hilton KL reputation by maintaining hotel standards, services and having good knowledge of the hotel facilities.
- To communicate with Banqueting sales and banqueting ops team regularly if you identify any areas that could improve the service level of the client that are not specifically AV focused.
- To ensure the AV Office is organized, secured to ensure the equipment condition is maintained at a high level.
- To take safety precaution at all times when handling tools and work behavior.
- To attend training sessions set out by your Operations or HR team
- To ensure all works completed are recorded properly and proper communications within colleagues during shift change to review daily duty and any pending job for follow up.
- To make sure that all items taken from the store are recorded and notify your immediate superior spare parts needed to be ordered immediately.
- To use proper etiquette when answering the telephone.
- Always be ready and willing to report for duty if any problem or situation, which is, needs you to report to duty.
- In case of emergency leave or medical leave you are required to call up Superior before your shift start and this up to management approval.
- Maintain the filing system and checking daily operation reports and follow the instruction given by the supervisor.
- Maintain records and supervise outside contractor’s work and follow up to their activities.
- Able to provide and supervise preventive maintenance of all audio visual equipment and updating of appropriate logs. Work schedule being flexible as per the event booking requirements.
- Update and execute the preventive maintenance program of the hotel and maintain the records of work carried out.
Qualifications
An AV Technician serving Hilton Brands is always working on behalf of our Guests and working with other Team Members. To successfully fill this role, you should maintain the attitude, behaviours, skills, and values that follow:
- At least 2 years of relevant working experience.
- Technical Secondary education on electric appliances, machines or equivalent.
- Knowledgeable of electrical appliances, air-conditioners, boilers, machines and pipelines, etc.
- Effectively communicate with your superior and staff.
- Team player who is honest and diligent with no unhealthy addictions.
- Healthy with no serious disease or physical defect which may affect the fulfilment of relevant works.
- Fluent in Mandarin to communicate with locals.
- Reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language.
- 3 years of technical training and field experience as an audio visual engineer or technician.
- Able to setup and operate all audio visual system.
- Must have good computer skills to operate the AV system.
