Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site position reporting to the Executive Director. The Procurement Strategist will play a key role in driving procurement excellence across the organization — managing supplier relationships, sourcing strategies, inventory planning, market analysis, and procurement operations to support the company's continued growth.
The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient procurement processes, optimize costs, maintain stock availability, and identify opportunities to improve profitability and operational performance.
Responsibilities
- Plan, implement, monitor, and control all procurement activities across the company.
- Ensure purchasing processes are consistently followed and inventory levels are effectively managed.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers while actively sourcing and evaluating new suppliers.
- Assess supplier quotations and negotiate the best purchasing packages in terms of quality, pricing, and service.
- Analyze consumer purchasing patterns, forecast demand trends, and ensure timely stock replenishment.
- Review sales performance and profitability of new product launches.
- Monitor competitor activities, market pricing, and consumer demand to identify business opportunities.
- Prepare cost analysis and recommend pricing adjustments to improve margins and profitability.
- Lead and guide team members to achieve departmental objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and undertake ad-hoc assignments as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or above in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 - 5 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, supply chain, or a related function.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in supplier management, inventory planning, and market analysis.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and reporting tools.
- Proficiency in Mandarin, English, and Bahasa Malaysia is preferred to effectively communicate with suppliers and stakeholders.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and make sound business decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in retail, food distribution, FMCG, or wholesale industries will be an added advantage.
