Job Description

Responsibilities

A Demi Chef (also called Demi Chef de Partie) is a junior-level chef position in a professional kitchen. The role supports the Chef de Partie (section chef) in managing a specific kitchen station.

Typical job scope includes:

  • Preparing ingredients and cooking dishes according to recipes and standards
  • Assisting the Chef de Partie in daily kitchen operations
  • Maintaining cleanliness and food hygiene standards
  • Monitoring food stock and informing supervisors about shortages
  • Ensuring proper food storage and labeling
  • Helping with plating and presentation
  • Following kitchen safety procedures
  • Training or guiding kitchen helpers/commis chefs when needed
  • Working under pressure during busy service periods
  • Supporting other kitchen sections when required

Common stations a Demi Chef may work in:

  • Hot kitchen, Pastry, Grill, Sauce section, Cold kitchen / salad section

Skills usually required:

  • Basic to intermediate cooking skills
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene
  • Teamwork and communication
  • Time management
  • Ability to work shifts and long hour

Pay: RM1,900.00 - RM2,200.00 per month

Work Location: In person
