Summary:
Responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and operational readiness of the company's fleet of lorries and transport equipment. The role ensures all vehicles are maintained in safe, roadworthy, and cost-effective conditions while minimizing downtime and supporting daily transportation operations. The supervisor will coordinate vehicle inspections, repair activities, workshop scheduling, vendor management, and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsible:
Monitor the overall condition of all company lorries and transport vehicles, by coordinating and supervising all vehicle repair and maintenance activities.
Diagnose vehicle issues and determine all the necessary repair actions, including verifying reported vehicle breakdowns and assess repair requirements before approval.
Ensure all repair works are complete according to company standards and manufacturer recommendations, monitor repair quality and perform post-repair inspections before releasing vehicles for operations and ensure all preventive maintenance schedules are strictly followed.
Inspect damaged or faulty vehicle components before any repair work is carried out, including taking pictures of damaged parts and obtain management approval before proceeding with any repairs.
Verifying all the repair quotations received from workshops and suppliers, by comparing repair costs and recommend the most cost-effective solutions, including ensuring that there are no unauthorized repair work is conducted without proper approval.
Monitoring all repair expenses and maintain records of maintenance costs for each vehicle, including identifying recurring repair issues and propose preventive solutions to reduce maintenance, including liaising with external workshops, mechanics, spare parts suppliers and service providers.
Liaise with external workshops, mechanics, spare parts suppliers, and service providers, schedule repair appointments and monitor repair progress. Follow up with workshops to ensure repairs are completed within the agreed timeline. Verify the quality of repair work performed by external vendors.
Negotiate repair costs and service charges whenever necessary, maintain good working relationships with approved repair vendors.
Supervise transport department personnel involved in vehicle maintenance activities. Provide guidance and technical support regarding vehicle repairs. Monitor staff performance and ensure assigned tasks are completed efficiently. Coordinate with drivers regarding vehicle defects and maintenance requirements. Conduct training and awareness sessions on vehicle care and reporting procedures.
Any ad-hoc tasks assigned by management.
Qualifications & Requirements
Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, or related field.
Minimum [3–5] years of experience in plastic manufacturing or related industry.
Experience in handling heavy vehicles, lorries, trucks, trailers or commercial transport fleets.
Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
Good problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Experience dealing with workshops, mechanics and spare parts suppliers.
