Responsibilities

Summary:

Responsible for supervising and coordinating all workshop activities related to inspection, servicing and repair of company lorries and fleet vehicles. This role ensures that all vehicles are maintained in safe, roadworthy condition, minimizing downtime and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

This foreman position will be specifically in handling all lorry maintenance

Key Responsible:

1.      Supervise daily workshop activities, including preventive maintenance and repair works for all company vehicles.

2.      Plan and assign jobs to mechanics and technicians based on priority and workload.

3.      Ensure timely completion of repairs to minimize vehicle downtime.
Oversee routine inspections, servicing, and repairs of lorries, trailers, and related equipment. Ensure all vehicles meet safety and roadworthiness standards before release. Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues and ensure proper rectification.

4.      Lead, train, and supervise mechanics, technicians, and workshop staff.

5.      Monitor staff performance, discipline, attendance, and productivity.

6.      Ensure proper skill development and adherence to work procedures.

7.      Coordinate and respond to vehicle breakdowns, including on-site or roadside repairs when required.

8.      Ensure quick turnaround and recovery of vehicles to operational condition.

9.      Monitor and manage spare parts usage and inventory levels.

10.   Coordinate with procurement or store department to ensure availability of critical parts.

11.   Prevent misuse or wastage of materials and tools.

12.   Maintain records of maintenance, repairs, and service history of all vehicles.

13.   Prepare reports on breakdowns, repair costs, and maintenance activities.

14.   Track key performance indicators such as downtime, repair turnaround time, and maintenance costs.

15.   Implement and monitor preventive maintenance schedules for all fleet vehicles.

16.   Ensure timely servicing to avoid unexpected breakdowns.

17.   Monitor workshop expenses and recommend cost-saving measures.

18.   Optimize resource utilization, including manpower, tools, and materials.

19.   Ensure all repair and maintenance activities follow company SOPs and manufacturer guidelines.

Qualifications & Requirements

1.      Certificate/Diploma in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.

2.      Minimum [5] years of experience in vehicle maintenance, with at least [2] years in a supervisory role.

3.      Strong knowledge of heavy vehicles (lorries, trailers, diesel engines).

4.      Good troubleshooting skills in mechanical and basic electrical systems.

5.      Leadership and team management experience.
