Scope of Position

The Design Engineer is responsible for engineering design, research and development, technical evaluation, and project engineering support for Air Pollution Control Systems (APCS), Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV), Industrial Exhaust Systems, and Ventilation Systems. The role involves developing engineering calculations, equipment sizing, system designs, technical documentation, and providing engineering support throughout the project lifecycle. The Design Engineer shall ensure all systems are designed efficiently, cost-effectively, and in compliance with DOE & DOSH regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and improve Air Pollution Control Systems (APCS) and filtration Systems for various industries.
• Prepare and maintain standard engineering calculations, design templates, sizing sheets, technical forms, and engineering databases.
• Develop and maintain pressure loss calculations, airflow calculations, fan selection criteria, and duct sizing calculations.
• Conduct research and development (R&D) activities to improve system performance, reliability, manufacturability, energy efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
• Establish and maintain standard designs, specifications, and engineering guidelines for air handling and pollution control systems.
• Conduct site visits with Sales and Project teams to assess customer requirements, process conditions, and installation constraints.
• Collect site measurements, photographs, videos, and technical information for design and proposal development.
• Analyse customer requirements and recommend optimum engineering solutions that meet operational, environmental, and budget objectives.
• Review and Verify all equipment layouts and drawings including fabrication drawings, ducting and installation drawings to ensure technical accuracy and practicality.
• Provide engineering support to Sales, Project, Production, Procurement, Installation, and Service teams.
• Participate in project meetings, technical discussions, design reviews, and customer presentations when required.
• Support system testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and performance verification activities.
• Investigate technical issues, customer complaints, equipment failures, and non-conformities.
• Prepare technical reports, root cause analyses, corrective action plans, and improvement recommendations.
• Continuously improve engineering processes, design standards, installation methods, and cost reduction initiatives.
• Provide technical design guidance, engineering training, and knowledge-sharing sessions to employees and customers.
• Prepare technical manuals, engineering procedures, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and technical presentations.
• Keep updated with industry standards, emerging technologies, environmental regulations, and engineering best practices.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, safety requirements, quality standards, and engineering practices.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by Management from time to time.

Background and Skills

Min. Education:

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent.

Min Experience:

• 3 - 5 years of relevant working experience in engineering design, project engineering, or technical support related to Air Pollution Control Systems, filtration system, LEV, Industrial Exhaust Systems, and Ventilation Systems.

Other Experience/Training/Qualifications:

• Experience in air handling projects, industrial manufacturing, process industries and environmental engineering.
• Knowledge of Air Pollution Control Systems, Dust Collection Systems, LEV, Industrial Exhaust Systems, and Ventilation Systems is preferred.
• Familiarity with engineering design calculations, technical specifications, and project engineering activities.

Other Qualifications/Skills:

• Good communication, analytical, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia; Mandarin is an added advantage.
• Self-motivated, independent, and result-oriented.
• Strong problem-solving, multi-project handling and troubleshooting capabilities.
• Creative and innovative with a continuous improvement mindset.
• Able to work effectively as part of a team.
• Willing to travel and outstation for project support, and customer meetings.
• Physically fit and able to work at industrial sites when required.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: RM3,000.00 - RM4,500.00 per month
