Job Purpose
We are seeking an experienced AWS Developer to design, build, and maintain serverless data workflows and automated deployment pipelines. The ideal candidate will implement Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or CloudFormation), create scheduled AWS Lambda functions that query Athena and write results to S3 (CDP bucket), and configure CI/CD pipelines to deploy these components reliably and securely.

Key Accountabilities

• Design and implement serverless data processing components on AWS, including Lambda functions that query Athena and write result files to the CDP S3.
• Author Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or CloudFormation to provision Lambdas, EventBridge Scheduler rules, IAM roles/policies, Athena resources (workgroups, named queries), S3 buckets and related resources.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines (e.g., AWS CodePipeline/CodeBuild, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins) that package, test, and deploy infrastructure and application code across environments.
• Configure secure IAM roles and least-privilege policies for Lambdas, Athena access, and S3 write operations.
• Implement scheduling via EventBridge Scheduler (or EventBridge rules) to run the Lambda daily and manage retries, error handling, and dead-letter queues (DLQ).
• Ensure observability: set up logging (CloudWatch Logs), metrics (CloudWatch Metrics), and alerts for failures, performance issues, or cost anomalies.
• Create automated tests for infrastructure and functions where applicable, and run integration tests as part of the pipeline.
• Optimize for cost, security, performance, and reliability.
• Produce clear design and runbook documentation; support operations and on-call rotations as needed.
• Collaborate with data engineers, security, and operations teams to ensure smooth production deployments and compliance.

Knowledge, Experience & Skills Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience deploying serverless applications on AWS.
• Strong proficiency with Infrastructure as Code: Terraform (preferred) or CloudFormation (YAML/JSON).
• Hands-on experience building AWS Lambda functions (Node.js, Python, or Java) that query Amazon Athena and write results to S3.
• Experience configuring Amazon Athena: databases, workgroups, query execution, and result handling.
• Experience with EventBridge Scheduler or EventBridge rules to schedule Lambda executions, including configuration of retries, targets, and input transformations.
• Practical experience building CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and serverless apps using tools such as AWS CodePipeline/CodeBuild, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins.
• Solid understanding of IAM, KMS, S3 security (bucket policies, encryption), and network/security boundaries.
• Knowledge of CloudWatch for logging, metrics, and alarms; familiarity with structured logging and tracing is a plus.
• Experience writing automated tests for IaC and serverless code; familiarity with tools like Terratest, pytest, or localstack is advantageous.
• Good communication skills, documentation ability, and experience working in cross-functional teams.

Good-to-have

• Experience with CDP (Cloudera Data Platform) S3 integrations or knowledge of the specific CDP S3 layout/requirements.
• Familiarity with Athena result format handling, partitioned tables, and query cost/optimization techniques.
• Experience with EventBridge Scheduler advanced features (cron expressions, flexible time windows).
• Familiarity with cost-management tools and best practices for Athena and Lambda.
• Certifications: AWS Certified Developer, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or Terraform Associate.

May require flexibility to work with stakeholders in different time zones.
