The Manager, Operational Excellence & Management Systems is responsible for driving continuous improvement, operational efficiency, and governance excellence across the organization. This role leads Lean transformation initiatives, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Integrated Management Systems (IMS), and workplace excellence programs to enhance productivity, safety, quality, compliance, and cost effectiveness. The incumbent acts as a key change agent, embedding a culture of continuous improvement and operational discipline across all functions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Process Improvement & Lean Leadership
- Identify, prioritize, and implement operational excellence initiatives that improve efficiency, enhance productivity, and reduce operating costs.
- Lead cross-functional improvement projects using Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and related methodologies.
- Facilitate value stream mapping, process mapping, root cause analysis (RCA), and problem-solving workshops to eliminate waste and variation.
- Establish standard processes and best practices to ensure sustainable performance improvements across operations.
2. Total Productive Maintenance (TPM)
- Lead and govern the organization-wide TPM program to maximize equipment reliability and asset utilization.
- Drive improvements in Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), including availability, performance, and quality.
- Promote and embed autonomous maintenance practices within production and maintenance teams.
- Partner with engineering, maintenance, and operations teams to reduce unplanned downtime and maintenance costs.
3. Integrated Management Systems (ISO)
- Oversee, maintain, and continuously improve the organization’s Integrated Management Systems covering:
- ISO 9001 (Quality Management)
- ISO 14001 (Environmental Management)
- ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety)
- ISO 37001 (Anti-Bribery & Corruption Management System – ABCMS)
- ISO 50001 (Energy Management)
- Act as the primary lead for internal and external audits, ensuring full compliance and ongoing certification readiness.
- Coordinate with certification bodies, external auditors, and internal stakeholders to close audit findings effectively.
- Ensure alignment between management systems, business strategy, and operational execution.
4. 5S & Workplace Excellence
- Standardize, deploy, and sustain 5S and workplace organization practices across all departments.
- Establish audit mechanisms, visual management standards, and governance structures to ensure long-term sustainability.
- Drive a safe, disciplined, and efficient workplace culture aligned with operational excellence principles.
5. Training, Culture & Reporting
- Design and deliver training programs to embed a strong “Continuous Improvement” and Lean culture across the organization.
- Coach leaders and teams on problem-solving, Lean thinking, and performance management.
- Establish, monitor, and report key operational excellence KPIs, including productivity, cost, OEE, audit performance, and CI impact.
- Provide clear, data-driven performance insights and improvement recommendations to senior management.
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, or related discipline).
- Master’s Degree in Project Management, Operational Excellence, or a related field is a significant advantage.
Experience
- Proven experience managing large-scale operational excellence and transformation projects.
- Background in the cement industry or similar heavy industrial sectors such as steel, chemicals, mining, or manufacturing.
- Demonstrated experience leading TPM, Lean transformation, and ISO management systems at site or organizational level.
Technical Expertise
- Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 37001, and ISO 50001 standards.
- In-depth understanding of TPM frameworks, OEE optimization, and maintenance excellence.
- Hands-on expertise with Lean Six Sigma tools (e.g., Kaizen, VSM, DMAIC, RCA, SPC).
- Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
