Job Description

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

  • Minimum 0.5-2 years' experience in accounting and tax compliance (experience with Australian public practice firms highly regarded).

  • Proficiency in Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).

  • Strong knowledge of Australian accounting standards, BAS/IAS, tax law basics, and payroll compliance.

  • Familiarity with preparation of partnership, trust, company, and group accounts & tax returns.

  • Experience using workflow and collaboration tools (e.g., Microsoft Teams, FYI Docs, Xero Practice Manager).

  • Excellent written and spoken English. Mandarin skills are advantageous.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Proactive learner who can adapt to systems and processes quickly.

  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and multitask in a remote environment.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Simplified Mandarin.

  • Possess good analytical skills, meticulous, positive working attitude, commitment, and good interpersonal and follow-up skills.

  • Reliable internet connection and ability to work remotely

  • Able to work independently while staying aligned with team objectives

  • Working hour from 7.30am to 4.30pm

Responsibilities

Accounting & Compliance

  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements and workpapers for individuals, partnerships, trusts, companies, and consolidated groups.

  • Prepare and lodge tax returns across all structures, under the review of senior accountants.

  • Assist in the preparation of BAS, IAS, FBT, and superannuation compliance.

  • Process payroll, STP reporting, and superannuation obligations.

  • Conduct bank reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable, and general ledger reviews.

Tax & Advisory Support

  • Perform reconciliations and calculations to support CGT, depreciation, and tax planning strategies.

  • Assist with group consolidations and inter-entity transactions.

  • Ensure compliance with Australian accounting standards, ATO regulations, and lodgement deadlines.

Administration & Workflow Support

  • Track job progress using workflow systems (e.g., Xero Practice Manager, FYI Docs).

  • Manage client correspondence, document requests, and file organisation.

  • Assist with scheduling, internal reporting, and project tracking.

Client & ATO Liaison

  • Communicate with the ATO regarding client accounts, lodgements, balances, and payment plans.

  • Support accountants in resolving compliance and reporting queries.
