Job Summary

A Dentist is responsible for diagnosing, preventing, and treating oral health problems. The dentist provides dental treatments, educates patients on oral hygiene, and ensures patients receive high-quality dental care in a safe and comfortable environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Patient Examination & Diagnosis

• Examine patients’ teeth, gums, and oral tissues.
• Diagnose dental conditions such as cavities, gum disease, and oral infections.
• Review X-rays and dental records to assess oral health.

2. Dental Treatments

• Perform treatments such as scaling and polishing, fillings, extractions, and root canal treatments.
• Provide cosmetic procedures such as whitening, veneers, and braces consultation.
• Fit dental appliances such as dentures, crowns, and bridges.

3. Treatment Planning

• Develop appropriate treatment plans based on patients’ oral condition.
• Explain procedures, risks, and treatment options to patients.

4. Patient Education

• Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices.
• Provide advice on diet and oral care to prevent dental problems.

5. Infection Control & Safety

• Follow strict infection control protocols and sterilization procedures.
• Ensure compliance with dental regulations and clinic standards.

6. Record Keeping

• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
• Document diagnoses, treatments, and follow-up care.

7. Team Collaboration

• Work closely with dental assistants and clinic staff.
• Supervise and guide dental assistants during procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS / DDS or equivalent)
• Valid Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) from the Malaysian Dental Council
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Professional, responsible, and patient-focused
