Job Summary
A Dentist is responsible for diagnosing, preventing, and treating oral health problems. The dentist provides dental treatments, educates patients on oral hygiene, and ensures patients receive high-quality dental care in a safe and comfortable environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Patient Examination & Diagnosis
- Examine patients’ teeth, gums, and oral tissues.
- Diagnose dental conditions such as cavities, gum disease, and oral infections.
- Review X-rays and dental records to assess oral health.
2. Dental Treatments
- Perform treatments such as scaling and polishing, fillings, extractions, and root canal treatments.
- Provide cosmetic procedures such as whitening, veneers, and braces consultation.
- Fit dental appliances such as dentures, crowns, and bridges.
3. Treatment Planning
- Develop appropriate treatment plans based on patients’ oral condition.
- Explain procedures, risks, and treatment options to patients.
4. Patient Education
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices.
- Provide advice on diet and oral care to prevent dental problems.
5. Infection Control & Safety
- Follow strict infection control protocols and sterilization procedures.
- Ensure compliance with dental regulations and clinic standards.
6. Record Keeping
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
- Document diagnoses, treatments, and follow-up care.
7. Team Collaboration
- Work closely with dental assistants and clinic staff.
- Supervise and guide dental assistants during procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS / DDS or equivalent)
- Valid Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) from the Malaysian Dental Council
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
