Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or above in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Professional certification (CPA / ACCA / CIMA / MIA) is strongly preferred.
5+ yearsof finance experience within themanufacturing sector.
At least 2 yearsof direct experience incost accounting, inventory management, and variance analysis.
Solid familiarity with Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS) and public listing compliance guidelines.
Proficient in MS Exceland majorERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Yonyou, Kingdee, etc.); direct experience with costing modules is a strong plus.
Fluent in English and Chinese (both written and spoken) for business negotiation and reporting with Group HQ and cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
1. Cost Variance Analysis & Anomaly Investigation
Perform monthly work order cost variance analyses (evaluating material, labor, and overhead) to pinpoint abnormal work orders and identify root causes.
Conduct deep-dive attribution analyses on significant deviations between standard and actual costs, delivering clear summary reports and driving corrective action plans.
Proactively detect and resolve process gaps—such as unpriced materials, unclosed work orders, and abnormal inventory movements (issuance/returns)—by driving cross-functional closure.
2. Operational Support & Performance Improvement
Monitor key plant metrics (including raw material utilization, labor efficiency, and scrap rates) to flag and report abnormal fluctuations before they impact the bottom line.
Collaborate closely with Production, Warehouse, and Planning teams to analyze inventory variances and investigate root causes of book-to-physical discrepancies.
Support sales project quotations by providing robust project cost alerts, feasibility analyses, and gross margin projections.
3. Management Reporting & Analytical Infrastructure
Prepare and present monthly high-impact reports, including Product Cost Analysis, Manufacturing Overhead (MOH) Analysis, and Gross Profit Variance Reports.
Establish reusable cost-analysis templates and automated anomaly-alert mechanisms to scale the team's analytical efficiency.
Mentor team members on data compilation, shifting the department's workflow into a highly efficient "execution analysis" collaborative model.
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing
Serve as the core finance liaison for plant operations, establishing structured communication channels with Production, Warehouse, and Procurement.
Share advanced cost-accounting logic, ERP (SAP) data extraction techniques, and analytical best practices to elevate the financial competency of the wider team.

Experience in leading and managing the daily operations of a local plant finance team, ensuring clear goal alignment, balanced workload distribution, and high performance.
Capability to take active ownership of team development by identifying skill gaps, conducting performance coaching, and building clear career progression pathways.
Ability to establish robust cross-training programs and knowledge-transfer frameworks to build team redundancy and eliminate key-person dependency risks.
