Job Description

Requirements

  • Possess a Diploma in Culinary Arts or a related field.

  • Have 1-2 years of proven experience as a Demi Chef or in a similar junior culinary role.

  • Demonstrate strong skills in culinary arts, including various food preparation techniques.

  • Proficient in inventory management and stock control within a kitchen environment.

  • Thorough understanding and strict adherence to food safety and hygiene standards.

  • Assist in menu planning and development, contributing creative ideas.

  • Support kitchen management by overseeing daily operations and ensuring efficiency.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented kitchen setting.

  • Excellent communication skills in both English and Bahasa Malaysia are essential for seamless team collaboration and communication with diverse stakeholders.

  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new culinary trends and techniques.

  • Previous experience in a school or catering environment is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Chef de Partie in the preparation and cooking of various dishes according to established recipes and quality standards.

  • Ensure all food is prepared, cooked, and presented in a timely and efficient manner, meeting the standards of SHF group and Sunway International School.

  • Maintain a high level of cleanliness and organization in your assigned station, adhering strictly to food safety and hygiene regulations.

  • Support inventory management by assisting with stock rotation, receiving deliveries, and reporting any discrepancies or low stock levels.

  • Participate in menu planning and development by contributing ideas for new dishes and assisting with costing and recipe testing.

  • Learn and execute various cooking techniques and methods, expanding culinary skills under the guidance of senior kitchen staff.

  • Collaborate effectively with other kitchen team members to ensure smooth service flow and a positive working environment.
