Job Role
The Facade Manager is responsible for the overall management, coordination, planning, and execution of façade and building envelope works from design development through installation, testing, commissioning, and project completion.
The role requires strong technical knowledge of façade systems, construction management, project coordination, quality control, safety requirements, and subcontractor management. The Facade Manager will ensure that façade works are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, applicable standards, and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Project & Site Management
Manage the overall execution of façade and building envelope works on assigned projects.
Develop and monitor façade work programmes, installation schedules, and manpower requirements.
Coordinate site activities to ensure works progress according to the approved project schedule.
Monitor productivity, resources, materials, equipment, and manpower.
Identify potential delays, technical issues, and site constraints and implement appropriate corrective actions.
Technical & Design Coordination
Review architectural, structural, façade, shop drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
Coordinate façade design development, shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and technical submissions.
Review façade system details, interfaces, tolerances, fixing methods, waterproofing, thermal insulation, fire safety, and structural requirements.
Coordinate design issues and resolve technical clashes between façade systems and other building components.
Work closely with designers, consultants, engineers, suppliers, and specialist subcontractors.
Ensure all technical submissions are prepared and approved before construction.
Quality Control
Ensure façade works comply with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, inspection and test plans, and applicable standards.
Establish and maintain façade quality control procedures.
Conduct regular inspections of installation works and identify defects or non-conformances.
Coordinate inspections, testing, mock-ups, sample panels, and performance testing.
Requirements
Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Building Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
Minimum 8–12 years of relevant experience in façade or related construction works.
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a managerial or senior management position.
Strong knowledge of façade construction methods, materials, systems, and installation techniques.
Good understanding of architectural and structural drawings and façade detailing.
Ability to review and coordinate shop drawings and technical submissions.
Familiarity with façade testing, mock-ups, inspections, and quality control procedures.
Good understanding of Singapore construction practices, WSH requirements, and relevant BCA requirements.
