Role Description

The Export Financing Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in Greater Kuala Lumpur. This is a sales and business development-focused role responsible for growing our export financing business and developing relationships with Malaysian companies engaged in international trade.

The role involves identifying and acquiring new SME and corporate clients with export financing needs, understanding their business and trade cycles, and recommending suitable financing solutions. The specialist will engage directly with business owners, finance teams, exporters, trading companies and other relevant stakeholders to originate new business opportunities.

The role will also involve building relationships with trade and logistics partners, developing new referral channels, managing the existing client portfolio and working closely with internal credit and operations teams to structure and execute financing facilities.

The ideal candidate should have a practical understanding of how Malaysian businesses export, including international buyers, payment terms, shipping and logistics, export documentation and the working capital gap between order, shipment and payment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in export financing, trade finance, banking, commercial lending, international trade, exporting, trading or logistics.
• Strong understanding of the Malaysian export process and international trade cycle.
• Candidates with experience in financial institutions, particularly in trade finance, export finance or SME financing, are encouraged to apply.
• Candidates from exporting, trading or logistics companies with practical knowledge of international transactions and export processes are also welcome.
• Strong sales and business development skills, with the ability to identify prospects, develop relationships and convert opportunities into financing business.
• Comfortable engaging directly with SME owners, finance managers and corporate decision makers.
• Good understanding of working capital requirements arising from export orders, shipment and customer payment terms.
• Fluent in English and Mandarin is required, with the ability to communicate confidently with clients and business partners.
• Strong communication, negotiation and relationship management skills.
• Commercially driven, proactive and comfortable working independently to develop new business.
• Relevant qualifications in Finance, Accounting, Business, International Trade or a related discipline are preferred.
• Experience in managing an existing client portfolio or financial products will be an advantage.
• Candidates should be hands-on, entrepreneurial and willing to build the export financing business together with the team.
