EDC Terminal Technician
Job Summary
Responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, monitoring, and technical support of Electronic Data Capture (EDC) terminals and related payment infrastructure. The role involves supporting payment terminal operations, diagnosing hardware and connectivity issues, performing system configuration, coordinating with merchants and service providers, and ensuring EDC terminals remain operational, secure, and available.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, deploy, and maintain EDC/payment terminals at merchant locations.
- Perform on-site and remote troubleshooting for EDC terminal hardware, software, network, and transaction-related issues.
- Diagnose and resolve terminal connectivity issues involving Wi-Fi, SIM/mobile networks and other communication channels.
- Configure and troubleshoot payment terminal parameters, applications, network settings, and connectivity requirements.
- Perform terminal replacement, configuration, testing, and commissioning.
- Conduct transaction testing, including successful, failed, declined, reversed, and settlement transactions.
- Monitor EDC terminal availability and investigate transaction failures, communication errors, and system abnormalities.
- Coordinate with network providers, payment service providers, banks, vendors, and internal technical teams to resolve incidents.
- Perform preventive maintenance, terminal health checks, software/application updates, and configuration reviews.
- Maintain records of EDC terminal deployments, configurations, incidents, replacements, and maintenance activities.
- Assist with troubleshooting and supporting payment-related applications and systems such as payment gateways and transaction processing platforms.
- Investigate transaction discrepancies and assist relevant teams with transaction/log verification.
- Collect and analyse terminal, application, server, and network logs to identify the root cause of incidents.
- Escalate complex hardware, software, network, or payment issues to the appropriate vendor or specialist team.
- Follow security, access-control, change-management, and operational procedures for payment infrastructure.
- Support incident response and service restoration during payment system outages or critical incidents.
- Prepare technical documentation, troubleshooting guides, maintenance reports, and incident reports.
- Perform other technical support and infrastructure duties related to EDC and payment systems as assigned.
· Liaise directly with the acquiring bank/acquirer regarding EDC transaction-related issues and technical incidents.
· Coordinate with the acquirer to investigate and resolve transaction failures, declined transactions, settlement issues, and terminal-related errors.
· Perform and coordinate manual settlement processes when required to ensure outstanding transactions are properly settled.
· Investigate and analyse acquirer error/response codes, transaction response codes, and terminal errors to identify the cause of failed or unsuccessful transactions.
· Coordinate with the acquirer and relevant internal teams for transaction verification, reconciliation, and issue resolution.
· Monitor and follow up on outstanding transaction issues with the acquirer until resolution.
· Prepare and submit monthly EDC installation and transaction-related updates to the acquirer via email.
· Maintain records of acquirer-related transaction incidents, manual settlements, error codes, correspondence, and resolutions for future reference and reporting.
· Act as the technical point of contact between the company and the acquirer for EDC terminal and transaction-related matters.

Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma/Degree/Certificate in Information Technology, Computer Science, Networking, Electronics, or a related technical field.
- Experience in EDC/POS, payment systems, banking, fintech, telecommunications, or IT infrastructure is an advantage.
- Knowledge of networking and transaction processing systems.
- Good knowledge usage of Microsoft Excel and Terminal Management System
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to perform on-site support and travel to merchant locations when required.
- Ability to work during scheduled maintenance windows, deployments, and critical incidents when required.
Pay: RM2,500.00 - RM3,500.00 per month
