Role Description The PhD Candidate will engage in advanced research under the supervision of academic staff, including designing studies, collecting and analyzing data, and contributing to scholarly publications. Day-to-day activities include conducting literature reviews, attending seminars and research group meetings, preparing progress reports, and presenting findings at conferences or internal forums. The candidate will collaborate with supervisors and peers, participate in academic discussions, and support teaching or mentoring activities when required. Administrative tasks such as maintaining research documentation, adhering to ethical and regulatory guidelines, and coordinating with partner institutions may also be part of the role. This is a part-time, hybrid position based in Georgetown, with a combination of on-campus responsibilities and tasks that can be completed from home.

Qualifications

• Strong research abilities, including literature review, data collection, and analytical skills.
• Proficiency in academic writing, critical thinking, and presentation of scientific or scholarly work.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet project milestones in a part-time setting.
• Collaborative skills for working with supervisors, peers, and interdisciplinary teams.
• Familiarity with research ethics, academic integrity, and relevant methodological approaches in the chosen field.
• Master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline; prior research experience or publications are an advantage.
• Good command of English; additional language skills are beneficial in international and multicultural environments.
• Motivation to pursue purpose-driven, sustainability-oriented research aligned with USM’s mission.
