Key Responsibilities:
New Product Introduction (NPI)
- Coordinate and support end-to-end NPI activities from prototype, pilot build and validation through to mass production.
- Review customer drawings, product specifications, BOMs and engineering requirements.
- Conduct manufacturability and assembly feasibility reviews and identify potential production risks.
- Coordinate prototype and first article builds with relevant departments.
- Ensure new products are successfully transferred into production according to project timeline.
- Support Engineering Change Orders (ECO/ECN) and product/process changes.
Manufacturing Process Development
- Develop and improve manufacturing processes for cable assemblies, wire harnesses and electromechanical products.
- Prepare and maintain Process Flow, SOP, Work Instructions, Visual Aids, Manufacturing Travelers and other engineering documentation.
- Develop and maintain PFMEA and Control Plans.
- Establish process parameters, inspection methods and acceptance criteria.
- Support process validation and ensure processes are stable and repeatable.
Production & Technical Support
- Provide technical support to production during new product introduction and production ramp-up.
- Troubleshoot product, process, tooling and equipment-related issues.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Monitor key manufacturing indicators such as FPY, yield, scrap, rework and cycle time.
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality and manufacturing efficiency.
Process Validation & Tooling
- Support validation and qualification of manufacturing processes, equipment, fixtures and tooling.
- Support processes such as:
- Wire cutting and stripping
- Crimping
- Connector insertion
- Soldering
- Overmolding
- Potting
- Labeling
- Electrical and functional testing
- Work with tooling suppliers to develop and validate jigs, fixtures and assembly aids.
- Support implementation of poka-yoke and error-proofing solutions.
Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Work closely with Quality Engineering to resolve manufacturing and product quality issues.
- Participate in 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone and other root cause analysis activities.
- Support customer complaints, corrective actions and process improvement activities.
- Conduct process capability studies such as Cp/Cpk where required.
- Identify and implement cost reduction, waste reduction and productivity improvement initiatives.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Production, Quality, Supply Chain, Program Management, Sales and other Engineering teams.
- Participate in NPI meetings, project reviews and technical discussions.
- Provide technical input for manufacturing feasibility and quotation activities.
- Ensure engineering activities are completed according to project schedules and customer requirements.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate engineering documentation including:
- BOM
- Engineering drawings
- Process Flow
- PFMEA
- Control Plan
- Work Instructions
- Validation Reports
- ECN/ECO
- Ensure manufacturing processes comply with applicable customer and quality requirements.
- Support compliance with ISO 9001, IPC/WHMA-A-620, UL requirements, customer-specific requirements and EHS standards. IATF 16949 exposure will be an advantage.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering or equivalent.
- 2–5 years of relevant experience in NPI, Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering or Product Engineering.
- Experience in cable assembly, wire harness, connector, electromechanical or electronics manufacturing is highly preferred.
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes, process development and production problem-solving.
- Experience with PFMEA, Control Plan, Process Flow, Work Instructions and process validation.
- Familiarity with engineering drawings, BOM and basic CAD software.
- Knowledge of 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, SPC and Cp/Cpk is an advantage.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and project coordination skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Good command of English, both written and spoken.
- Able to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and support NPI activities according to project timelines.
Pay: RM7,000.00 - RM9,000.00 per month
Work Location: In person
