The Network Lead's primary responsibility will be to design, drive and implement improvements to Ensign's network, with a strong focus on security and on deepening capabilities for network monitoring, fault detection and recovery. This is an individual contributor role requiring strong hands-on expertise, suited to a game changer who can identify gaps in coverage and capability and develop solutions that deliver more specific, granular and real-time network visibility. The position will also take on the role of Infrastructure Network Services Lead, responsible for architecting, engineering and operating Ensign's backbone, data centre and access networks.
Responsibilities:
- Design and configure security-centric network and infrastructure solutions for the organisation.
- Ensure technical solutions and designs align with security policies and guidelines.
- Develop technical solutions and designs, and translate them into technical specifications and functional requirements.
- Work hands-on across various technologies, with a focus on network and security.
- Take overall responsibility for project delivery.
- Manage the lifecycle of network products, from evaluation and procurement through to upgrades, technology refresh and end-of-life.
- Explore new networking technologies and topologies through proof-of-concepts.
- Create and update documentation for reference and deployment by regional offices.
Requirements:
- Degree in Computer Science, Computer or Electronics Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline.
- CCNP (Cisco) certification is required; CCIE will be an added advantage.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience operating in a medium to large enterprise environment.
- Strong fundamental knowledge of networking and security.
- Experience in designing and implementing high-availability multi-layer enterprise networks.
- Experience with SD-WAN solutions and QoS design across WAN and branch networks.
- Experience with cloud-managed WLAN solutions.
- Experience with ZTNA/SSE/SASE solutions for secure remote, branch and cloud access.
- Experience with next-generation firewalls, IPS platforms, and network monitoring and management solutions.
- Good understanding of APIs, with hands-on experience using AI and low-code tools (e.g. Copilot, Claude, Cursor) and MCP (Model Context Protocol) to build network automation and integrations.
- Experience in CAPEX planning and budgeting, and in network product lifecycle management.
- Excellent project and vendor management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to influence and communicate effectively with non-technical audiences and senior management.
- Experience with SDN/data centre networking will be an added advantage.
- Experience with security policy orchestration and network automation tools will be an added advantage.
- Knowledge of hyper-converged infrastructure will be an added advantage.
