Job Summary
The Finance Manager is responsible for overseeing the company's financial health, ensuring accurate financial reporting, managing budgets and cash flow, and supporting strategic decision-making across departments (Sales, Business Development, Design, HR, and Operations). This role combines day-to-day financial management with longer-term planning and risk control, particularly important in a project-based, events-driven business where cash flow and job costing can vary significantly by event/client.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow).
- Ensure compliance with local tax regulations, statutory filings, and audit requirements.
- Liaise with external auditors, tax agents, and regulatory bodies.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Develop and manage the annual company budget in coordination with department heads.
- Provide event/project-level budgeting and cost tracking.
- Forecast cash flow needs, particularly around large events with upfront costs and delayed client payments.
Cash Flow & Working Capital Management
- Monitor accounts receivable/payable, ensuring timely invoicing and collections.
- Manage vendor and contractor payments, including manpower/promoter payroll cycles.
- Maintain adequate working capital for operational and event-related expenses.
Cost Control & Profitability Analysis
- Track job/event profitability, flagging cost overruns.
- Analyze margins by client, event type, or department.
- Recommend cost-saving measures without compromising service quality.
Risk Management & Internal Controls
- Implement and maintain internal financial controls and approval workflows.
- Assess financial risk in client contracts (e.g., payment terms, penalty clauses).
- Manage insurance, indemnity, and liability considerations tied to events/manpower services.
Strategic Support
- Provide financial insights to support business development and pricing decisions.
- Support leadership with data for KPI tracking and performance dashboards.
- Advise on financial implications of new contracts, partnerships, or expansions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (professional certification such as CPA/CA/ACCA preferred).
- 5+ years of finance/accounting experience, ideally in events, hospitality, staffing, or project-based industries.
- Strong Excel/financial modeling skills; experience with accounting software (QuickBooks, Autocount, etc.).
- Experience managing cash flow in a business with variable, project-based revenue.
- Strong communication skills to work cross-departmentally with Sales, BD, Design, and HR.
