What The Role Is

We are seeking a graduate in Masters (Architecture) or Urban Design to join the Architecture and Urban Design group within URA, to help develop urban design guidelines and drive masterplanning work for strategic areas in Singapore. Part of the role entails placemaking and other exciting initiatives to promote design excellence in Singapore.

What You Will Be Working On

Urban Design and Strategic Development:

• Develop and evaluate comprehensive plans for various urban projects, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and sustainability goals.
• Lead urban design projects that integrate public space design, land use planning, and community engagement.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create and implement design guidelines and frameworks that support high-quality urban development.
  
  Research and Policy Development:
• Drive research, policy and tool development for advanced liveability issues in urban design and planning, such as environmental modelling, sky view factor, carbon accounting, adaptive reuse, etc, by reviewing existing best practices around the world and research collaborations with private sector / institutes of higher learning.
• Contribute to the formulation of policies and programmes that align with the Urban Redevelopment Authority’s (URA) mission to promote design excellence and sustainability.
  
  Design Excellence Initiatives:
• Organise and oversee exhibitions, design competitions, and awards that highlight outstanding urban design and development practices.
• Coordinate and facilitate talks, seminars, and workshops to engage professionals and the public in meaningful urban planning discussions.
• Oversee the creation and dissemination of publications that showcase urban design innovations and thought leadership.
  
  Event and Stakeholder Management:
• Plan and execute impactful events that bring together local and international stakeholders to address urban challenges and share insights.
• Manage event logistics to ensure seamless execution and alignment with strategic objectives.
• Work collaboratively to ensure stakeholder needs are met and projects achieve intended outcomes.
  
  

What We Are Looking For

• Degree in architecture, urban design, urban planning, geography, urban studies, international relations, or a related field.
• Proficiency in software such as AutoCAD, BIM, rhino, sketch up Photoshop, and ArcGIS.
• Strong analytical skills and strategic thinking abilities.
• Strong project management, organisational, and communication skills.
• Demonstrated experience in building and managing relationships with international stakeholders.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.
• A proactive and creative approach, with a passion for urban development and fostering global partnerships.
  
  The successful candidate will be offered a 1-year contract in the first instance, with continuation subject to further assessments and considerations.
