Role Purpose

We are looking for an experienced Data Protection Officer (“DPO”) to lead and oversee our data protection and privacy framework for our regulated businesses. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that privacy and data protection are embedded across the Firm's products, operations and technology environment.

Note: This role can be based in Malaysia or the United Arab Emirates.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the Firm's data protection, privacy and information governance program.
• Advise the Board, Senior Management and business teams on applicable Data Protection and Privacy laws and regulations.
• Oversee compliance with data protection principles, including lawful processing, data minimisation, retention and data subject rights.
• Develop and maintain privacy policies, procedures, standards and internal guidance.
• Conduct Data Protection and Privacy assessments as required.
• Manage data subject requests, complaints and privacy-related incidents.
• Oversee personal data breach identification, investigation, escalation and regulatory notification where required.
• Advise on third-party data processing, outsourcing, data sharing and cross-border data transfers.
• Monitor compliance through periodic reviews, testing and reporting.
• Deliver data protection and privacy training and promote a strong privacy and data protection culture.
• Act as the primary point of contact with the relevant authorities.
• Work on other ad-hoc projects as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in data protection, privacy, legal, compliance or information governance.
• Strong knowledge of Global Data Protection Regulations and international privacy framework.
• Experience in financial services, banking, fintech or other regulated environments preferred.
• Strong understanding of data protection assessments, data subject rights, data breaches, third-party processing and cross-border data transfers.
• Strong communication, analytical and stakeholder-management skills.
• Ability to operate independently and provide effective challenge and advice to Senior Management.
• Professional qualification/certifications are advantageous.
