Looking for a highly experienced Senior IT Project Manager / Overall Project Manager to lead a critical digital transformation project involving the replacement of an existing vendor-developed client self-service front-end platform with a new internally developed solution.

· The successful candidate will take end-to-end ownership of the project, acting as the primary face of the project and working closely with technology teams, business stakeholders, vendors and senior management.

· This is a high-risk business-critical project, as the existing platform is already live and actively used by clients. The successful candidate must therefore have strong experience delivering customer-facing web and mobile platforms, managing system replacement and integration projects, and ensuring a seamless production cutover with minimal disruption to users.

· The role requires more than traditional project coordination. We are looking for a hands-on and highly accountable project leader who can anticipate risks, challenge requirements, identify gaps, support QA/UAT activities and ensure that technology, people and processes are appropriately transformed.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Delivery

· Take overall ownership and accountability for the successful delivery of the project from initiation through production go-live and stabilisation.

· Act as the primary point of contact and face of the project, providing regular updates to senior management and key stakeholders.

· Develop and manage project plans, milestones, dependencies, resources, budgets, risks and deliverables.

· Drive cross-functional teams towards project objectives, timelines and quality expectations.

· Coordinate closely with technology, business, QA, vendors and other relevant stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

· Escalate critical issues promptly and drive them through to resolution.

Web & Mobile Front-End Delivery

· Lead the delivery of customer-facing web and mobile front-end solutions.

· Ensure the new platform provides functional continuity with the existing live solution while supporting enhanced capabilities.

· Oversee the implementation of critical client self-service functions across web and mobile channels.

· Ensure front-end solutions are properly integrated with existing backend, enterprise and legacy systems.

· Manage dependencies across application, integration, infrastructure, security and other technology components.

System Replacement & Production Readiness

· Lead the replacement of an existing live vendor-developed front-end with an internally developed solution.

· Conduct comprehensive gap analysis between the existing and target platforms.

· Ensure existing business-critical functions are retained or appropriately enhanced.

· Identify hidden dependencies, functional gaps, technical risks and potential production issues before go-live.

· Develop and manage detailed cutovers, deployment, rollback and production-readiness plans.

· Ensure comprehensive testing and business readiness prior to production deployment.

· Drive a seamless Day-1 go-live with minimal disruption to clients and business operations.

Risk Management & Quality Assurance

· Proactively identify, assess and mitigate project, technology, operational and business risks.

· Look beyond documented risks and actively investigate potential unknowns, dependencies and failure points.

· Work closely with QA and technology teams to ensure sufficient test coverage.

· Participate actively in QA, UAT and functional validation were required.

· Ensure testing covers positive, negative, exception, boundary and real-world scenarios.

· Challenge gaps in testing and ensure critical customer journeys are properly validated.

· Lead issue resolution and ensure production-impacting defects are addressed before go-live.

Business Analysis & Process Improvement

· Work closely with business users to understand the underlying business problem rather than simply implementing stated requirements.

· Challenge requirements where appropriate and identify opportunities to simplify, automate or modernise existing processes.

· Identify legacy processes, manual workarounds and inefficient practices that may negatively impact the proposed solution.

· Apply Business Process Reengineering (BPR) principles were required.

· Ensure proposed solutions are scalable, sustainable and future proof.

· Prevent the implementation of expensive technology solutions that simply replicate inefficient legacy processes.

· Help transform technology, people and processes together to deliver sustainable business outcomes.

Stakeholder & Vendor Management

· Manage relationships with business stakeholders, technology teams, vendors and senior management.

· Work effectively with vendors to obtain necessary technical and functional information, identify gaps and manage dependencies.

· Proactively ask the right questions and ensure critical information is obtained before key project decisions are made.

· Manage stakeholder expectations and facilitate timely decision-making.

· Represent the project at steering committees, governance forums and senior management meetings.

Requirements

· 10–20 years of experience in IT project management, programme management or technology delivery.

· Strong experience managing web and mobile front-end projects from initiation through production launch.

· Proven experience delivering customer-facing digital platforms, portals, mobile applications or online trading/investment platforms.

· Experience in banking/brokerage, securities, investment, capital markets or financial services is highly preferred.

· Experience managing replacement, migration or transformation of an existing live system.

· Experience working with vendor-developed platforms and/or transitioning solutions from vendor ownership to internally developed/in-house solutions is highly advantageous.

· Strong understanding of application integration, APIs, backend dependencies and legacy systems.

· Demonstrated experience managing high-risk production cutovers and business-critical go-live activities.

· Strong knowledge of project governance, risk management, issue management, UAT, QA and production readiness.

· Strong business analysis and requirements management capabilities.

· Experience in business process improvement, process optimisation or BPR is highly advantageous.

· Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including experience engaging senior management.

· Ability to challenge business requirements constructively and identify the actual problem behind a requested IT solution.

· Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.

· Highly hands-on, proactive and accountable with a strong "end-to-end ownership" mindset.

Comfortable working in a fast-paced and relatively flat organisational structure where decisions and escalations need to be handled quickly

Pay: RM10,000.00 - RM17,000.00 per month
