Waterways Watch Society (WWS) is looking for a Programme & Partnerships Associate to join our team and support our environmental education, community engagement and outreach programmes across Singapore.
This is a hands-on role for someone who wants to do more than work behind a desk. You will have opportunities to lead environmental programmes on foot, bicycle, kayak and boat; work with schools, corporates and community groups; engage and coordinate volunteers; and help develop new programmes and partnerships that advance environmental stewardship in Singapore.
As part of a lean team, you will be exposed to different aspects of running an environmental non-profit, from programme delivery and stakeholder engagement to business development, communications and operations.
We are open to candidates seeking either a full-time or contract position. This position is open to Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents only.
What You Will Do
- Programme Delivery & Environmental Education
- Facilitate and lead environmental education and sustainability programmes for schools, companies, community groups and members of the public.
- Conduct outdoor programmes and patrols using different modes including walking, cycling, kayaking, pedal boats and boats.
- Deliver educational talks, briefings, workshops and presentations on environmental and waterway-related issues.
- Support the development of new environmental programmes, learning materials and engagement activities.
- Represent WWS at exhibitions, community events and external engagements.
2. Partnerships & Programme Development
- Support engagement with schools, corporate partners, government agencies and community organisations.
- Assist with enquiries, proposals, programme planning and coordination for prospective and existing partners.
- Identify opportunities for new programmes, collaborations and community initiatives.
- Support selected fundraising, sponsorship and business development activities where relevant.
3. Volunteer & Community Engagement
- Coordinate and engage WWS's diverse community of volunteers across different age groups and backgrounds.
- Support volunteer recruitment, scheduling, deployment and communications.
- Lead or support volunteer patrols and environmental activities.
- Help create a positive, safe and meaningful volunteer experience.
4. Operations & Administration
- Coordinate programme logistics, schedules, equipment and participant arrangements.
- Maintain accurate programme, volunteer and stakeholder records using systems such as Salesforce CRM, Microsoft Excel and other internal platforms.
- Support reporting, presentations and administrative requirements associated with WWS programmes and projects.
- Work closely with the wider team on special projects and organisational initiatives.
5. Communications & Outreach
- Support communications with programme participants, volunteers, partners and members of the public.
- Contribute to social media, programme publicity and environmental outreach content.
- Candidates with photography, videography, design or social media capabilities may also have opportunities to develop content for WWS's platforms.
Who We Are Looking For
You may be a good fit if you:
- Have a genuine interest in environmental sustainability, community engagement or environmental education.
- Enjoy interacting with people and are comfortable working with everyone from young students and volunteers to corporate representatives and community partners.
- Are confident communicating and presenting in written and spoken English.
- Are organised, dependable and able to manage several responsibilities at the same time.
- Are comfortable working independently when required while remaining a strong team player.
- Are willing to work both outdoors and in an office environment.
- Are physically comfortable participating in outdoor activities and are able to cycle.
- Demonstrate initiative, good judgement and strong interpersonal skills.
Experience in environmental work is useful but not essential. We are equally interested in candidates who demonstrate the right attitude, willingness to learn and ability to engage people.
Additional Skills That Would Be an Advantage:
- Experience facilitating programmes, workshops, camps or community activities.
- Experience working with schools, corporates, volunteers or community organisations.
- Social media, photography, videography or content-production skills.
- Event or programme management experience.
- Business development, partnerships or stakeholder-engagement experience.
- 1-Star Kayaking certification or above.
- Experience leading cycling, kayaking or other outdoor activities.
Working Arrangements
Many of WWS's environmental programmes and volunteer activities take place on weekends. Candidates should therefore be comfortable working one half-day on either Saturday or Sunday each week, depending on programme requirements and the agreed work arrangement.
The role is primarily based in Singapore and involves a combination of office work, stakeholder engagements and outdoor field activities at waterways and programme locations across the island.
Why Join Waterways Watch Society?
This role offers an opportunity to:
- Work directly on environmental education and stewardship initiatives with tangible community impact.
- Gain broad exposure across programme management, partnerships, volunteer management, communications and non-profit operations.
- Work with schools, corporates, government agencies, volunteers and community stakeholders.
- Spend part of your working week outside the office delivering programmes across Singapore's waterways and green spaces.
- Take meaningful ownership of programmes and projects within a lean organisation.
- Develop practical experience in Singapore's sustainability and environmental sector.
