Maintenance assistant duties and responsibilities
Maintenance assistants typically work under the supervision of a maintenance manager or facilities supervisor. Responsibilities can vary depending on the size and type of facility, but most roles focus on routine upkeep and basic repairs to keep buildings safe and operational.
Common duties for a maintenance assistant include:
- Responding to maintenance requests such as leaky faucets, broken locks or minor electrical issues
- Performing routine inspections of doors, windows, lighting and plumbing to identify wear or potential hazards
- Completing basic repairs, including plumbing issues, replacing damaged tiles or adjusting door hinges
- Assisting with minor upgrades like painting walls, mounting shelves or installing whiteboards
- Organizing and maintaining tools, equipment and supply rooms to ensure quick access and clean work areas
- Supporting other maintenance or janitorial staff with larger repairs or seasonal tasks
- Following safety procedures when handling tools, ladders or cleaning chemicals
- Documenting completed tasks and reporting recurring issues to supervisors
Pay: RM1,703.84 - RM6,352.38 per month
