Plan and deliver high-quality Mathematics lessons across Years 7–13, in accordance with the school's curriculum and academic expectations.
Take responsibility for Upper Secondary Mathematics classes, including the teaching and preparation of students undertaking IGCSE and IBDP Mathematics.
Demonstrate strong mathematical subject knowledge and use a range of effective teaching strategies to develop students' conceptual understanding, mathematical reasoning, problem-solving and application skills.
Differentiate teaching and learning to cater for students with varying levels of ability, readiness and learning needs within the same class, providing appropriate support and challenge.
Use technology, real-world applications and appropriate learning resources to enhance students' engagement and understanding.
Maintain a positive, inclusive and academically rigorous learning environment that encourages students to become confident and independent learners.
2. Assessment and Student Progress
Design and implement appropriate formative and summative assessments to monitor student learning and progress.
Provide timely, constructive and actionable feedback to support students' continuous improvement.
Maintain accurate records of students' attainment, progress and assessment.
Identify students requiring additional support or greater academic challenge and implement appropriate strategies.
Communicate students' progress effectively with students, parents and relevant colleagues.
3. Curriculum Development and Collaboration
Contribute to the planning, review and development of the Mathematics curriculum across Years 7–13 to ensure appropriate progression and continuity.
Collaborate with Mathematics colleagues on schemes of work, teaching resources, assessment and curriculum development.
Participate in standardisation and moderation activities to maintain consistency in assessment practices and academic standards.
Keep abreast of developments in Mathematics education and changes to relevant IGCSE and IBDP curriculum and assessment requirements.
Share professional knowledge, teaching resources and effective practices within the Mathematics Department.
4. Parent and School Communication
Maintain effective and professional communication with parents regarding students’ academic progress, learning needs and areas for development.
Work collaboratively with parents, colleagues and school leadership to support students’ learning, wellbeing and overall development.
Communicate concerns regarding student progress or engagement in a timely manner and work with relevant stakeholders to develop appropriate support strategies.
Participate in parent-teacher conferences, information sessions and other school events as required.
5. Student Development and Wider School Contribution
Build positive and supportive relationships with students and promote high expectations, resilience and a growth mindset.
Support students' wider academic, personal and social development in accordance with the school's educational philosophy and values.
Undertake pastoral responsibilities as assigned.
Participate actively in department and school meetings, professional development, parent meetings and school events.
Contribute to Mathematics-related enrichment activities, competitions, clubs or other co-curricular programmes where appropriate.
-Perform other professional duties reasonably assigned by the school. Job Requirements: - Bachelor's degree or above in Mathematics, Mathematics Education or a relevant related discipline.
Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, PGDE / Bachelor in Education, which will be able to apply for Registered teacher in Hong Kong)
Relevant experience teaching Mathematics at Secondary School level.
Proven experience teaching Upper Secondary Mathematics, including IGCSE and IBDP examination classes.
Strong knowledge of IGCSE and IBDP Mathematics curriculum, assessment and examination requirements.
Demonstrated ability to teach students across Years 7–13 and adapt teaching approaches according to students' age, ability and stage of learning.
Strong ability to differentiate instruction for students with varying levels of mathematical ability within the same classroom.
Experience in using assessment data to monitor student progress and inform teaching and intervention.
Strong classroom management, communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively and collaboratively within a departmental team.
Maintain high standards and expectations, encouraging students to challenge themselves and achieve their best.
