Job Scope for Procurement Manager
Procurement Manager
Industry:
Food & Beverage / Wholesale Produce (Fresh Fruits and Vegetables)
Core Responsibilities & Duties:
Global Supplier Sourcing & Selection: Identify, evaluate, and onboard reliable international growers, farms, and exporters across South America, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, USA, and Southeast Asia to ensure a steady supply of premium fresh fruits and vegetables. [1, 2]
Price & Contract Negotiation: Lead commercial negotiations regarding pricing, payment terms, shipment volumes, and quality SLAs (Service Level Agreements) to maximize cost-efficiency and profitability. [1, 2]
Supply Chain & Cold Chain Management: Coordinate closely with logistics partners, freight forwarders, and shipping lines to manage import timelines, ensuring strict temperature-controlled cold chain standards are maintained during transit to protect produce freshness.
Quality Assurance & Compliance: Oversee compliance with Singapore Food Agency (SFA) import regulations and ensure all procured items meet internal quality, food safety, and grading benchmarks.
Market Intelligence & Price Forecasting: Monitor global crop cycles, weather patterns, and seasonal availability to anticipate price fluctuations, mitigate supply chain disruptions, and secure early volume allocations. [1, 2]
Inventory Control & Demand Planning: Collaborate with the warehouse and sales operations teams at the Pasir Panjang Wholesale Centre to forecast demand, prevent overstocking/wastage, and optimize stock rotation for highly perishable inventory. [1, 2]
Supplier Relationship Management (SRM): Cultivate long-term relationships with strategic vendors and perform periodic performance audits based on quality consistency, delivery reliability, and responsiveness. [1, 2]
Procurement Documentation: Manage and review essential import/export and purchasing documentation, including Purchase Orders (PO), Bills of Lading (BL), Phytosanitary Certificates, and invoice reconciliations.
