Established in 1914, The Football Association of Hong Kong, China Limited(HKFA) is the national sports association for football in Hong Kong. We are committed to enhance football development in Hong Kong. Over the past years, HKFA has been effective in broadening the base of participants and expanding various development programmes on community football covering grassroots and youth football, women’s football and futsal. We provide coaching education and referee training courses to increase the supply of qualified coaches and referees to support player development and improve the standards of refereeing. We also organize football leagues, local and international competitions.

Based on the solid groundwork laid in the past years, the continual collaborations with football stakeholders as well as funding support from the FIFA, AFC, the Government of the HKSAR, the Hong Kong Jockey Club and other sponsors, we keep moving in the right directions for the implementation of our new HKFA five year strategic plan, namely “The Vision 2025 Strategic Plan”, which the major goals identified vary from increased participation opportunities for all , viz. “Football for Everyone” to a long-term target of a Hong Kong men senior team going to the FIFA World Cup in 2034.

The position is under the Technical Development Department) in the organization structure of HKFA. Reporting to the General Secretary, the appointee is responsible for the following:

Job Descriptions

• To report regularly to the Board, Technical Committee and General Secretary on high-performance football.
• To research and provide advice on playing styles and to contribute to the development of coaching knowledge (football curriculum and coaching course content).
• To ensure that the HKFA has a clear and well thought through strategy for the development of football at all levels and to oversee its ongoing review and implementation in conjunction with the Head of Football Development.
• To advise the HKFA on all technical playing matters including devising the Hong Kong 'style and system of play' and to articulate this into a Hong Kong Football Curriculum.
• To continuously monitor best practice in technical matters and to communicate this to all football stakeholders.

• To directly lead and supervise the Head Coach on performance systems and development programmes.
• To work with the key staff in Technical Department to ensure that grass roots and youth development activities and programmes are dovetailed with high-performance systems and create seamless pathways for footballers to progress.
• To oversee and directly supervise the work of the Representative Teams, Grassroots Football, Women's Football, Futsal Football, and Coach Education functions within the Technical Development Department and to ensure that they are implementing the Hong Kong style and system of play.
• To create and uphold a winning performance culture.
• To build partnerships with other high-performance sports agencies in Hong Kong and internationally including EAFF/AFC/FIFA.
• To develop the key relationships internally and externally and to communicate effectively at all times with players, coaching staff, clubs, administrators, officials, parents, supporters and the media.
• To collaborate with the Hong Kong Football Training Centre (FTC) to ensure effective high-performance use of its facilities as a base for coach education and elite player development.
• To manage the Technical Development Department's budget and expenditure responsibly, ensuring costs are planned, tracked and controlled within approved limits.
To perform other duties and responsibilities as reasonably instructed by the General Secretary and/or the Board.

Qualifications and Experience

In possession of current coaching qualifications (or experience) equivalent to UEFA 'A' license and/or FIFA 'Pro' license.

• The successful candidate must have proven experience and success in elite football development/ management/coaching.
• Well-developed leadership and management skills with a track record of creating a culture of high performance.
