Role Description

The Resident Engineer is a contract, on-site role located in WP Kuala Lumpur, responsible for providing technical support and maintenance at the client’s premises. The role involves monitoring systems and networks, diagnosing issues, and coordinating timely resolutions to ensure minimal downtime. The Resident Engineer will perform routine checks, implement agreed configurations or upgrades, and document all incidents, changes, and solutions. This position includes close collaboration with client stakeholders, responding to service requests, escalating complex problems when needed, and advising on best practices for system usage. The Resident Engineer is expected to maintain clear communication, adhere to service-level agreements, and contribute to continuous improvement of the client’s IT environment.

Qualifications

• Possess solid technical skills in IT infrastructure, networking, and system administration relevant to on-site support environments.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, and connectivity issues, and to perform root-cause analysis.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with client users, internal teams, and external vendors.
• Experience with ticketing systems, incident management processes, and documentation of technical activities.
• Ability to work independently at the client site, prioritize tasks, and manage time in a fast-paced environment.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft, Cisco) or equivalent practical experience are an advantage.
• Diploma or degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
• Willingness to adhere to client policies, maintain confidentiality, and uphold high standards of professionalism and service quality.
