Overall Description of Job

To lead and supervise all design activities in Factory Automation & Smart-Factory project teams to meet customers’ requirements.

Responsibilities & Accountability

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

* Interpret the customer’s requirements and translate them into proposal and conceptualization for new machine/equipment.

* Liaise and follow-up with the customer on project proposal, subsequent project activities and development.

* As the lead design engineer being responsible to monitor & follow-up on the project team comprising of project engineers & technicians, design engineers (both mechanical & electrical) and the SCM team to ensure a smooth work flow in the manufacturing & assembly process.

* To lead & mentor project & design reviews with customer’s requirements & feedback on project matters.

* Follow-up with vendors in the supply chain on matters related to the project.

DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT

* To perform detail designs and critical drawings on time and upon the approval of the project manager, forward the designs to the respective vendors and suppliers for quotations & fabrication.

* To lead meetings and review with the design team and the customers on design requirements and specification.

* Being the mentor and to provide guidance to the team of design engineers, assistant design engineers in their job scope ranging from detailed designing, the selection of materials/standard items to the checking of drawings etc.

* Draft machine testing protocol (especially for critical function) enabling the manufacturing team to test run the machine.

* Ensure that all project documents, drawings and materials (soft & hard copies) are updated and appropriately documented and compiled accordingly.

SMART FACTORY TECHNOLOGIES & AI PLATFORM

* To lead & team up with cross-disciplinary teams of engineers & specialists focusing on smart factory technologies & projects.

* To ideate and build robust data and digital technology driven solutions for advanced manufacturing / industrial processes.

* To leverage AI and robotics-integration solutions to meet customers’   automation & real-time needs.

DESIGN SOFT SKILLS & APPLICATION
