Principal Mechanical Engineer

Salary: $7,000 – $8,000 per month

Job Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the mechanical engineering aspects of building and infrastructure projects, with a strong focus on HDB residential developments.

• Provide technical leadership in the design, coordination and implementation of mechanical building services systems.

• Review mechanical designs, calculations, drawings, specifications, technical submissions and shop drawings to ensure compliance with project requirements and applicable codes and standards.

• Coordinate mechanical services including ACMV, plumbing, sanitary, fire protection and other related building services.

• Lead M&E coordination with clients, architects, structural consultants, contractors, subcontractors and other project stakeholders.

• Identify and resolve technical, design and site coordination issues throughout the project lifecycle.

• Attend design, technical, coordination and progress meetings with clients, consultants, contractors and relevant stakeholders.

• Review contractors' technical proposals, material submissions, method statements and related documentation.

• Monitor site implementation to ensure mechanical works are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, specifications and project requirements.

• Support inspections, testing and commissioning of mechanical systems.

• Coordinate with relevant authorities and support statutory submissions, inspections and approvals where required.

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers and other members of the project team.

• Ensure engineering deliverables are completed according to project schedules, quality requirements and applicable Singapore codes and regulations.

• Support project handover, testing and commissioning documentation and resolution of outstanding technical matters.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related engineering discipline.

• Strong experience in HDB BTO / HDB residential construction projects is advantageous.

• Extensive experience in mechanical building services design, engineering and project coordination.

• Experience working within an M&E consultancy / engineering consultancy environment is highly advantageous.

• Strong knowledge of mechanical building services systems and their interfaces with architectural, structural and electrical works.

• Good understanding of relevant Singapore codes, standards, authority requirements and industry practices.

• Able to review engineering calculations, drawings, specifications and technical submissions independently.

• Strong technical problem-solving, coordination and stakeholder management capabilities.

• Able to lead projects and provide technical direction to engineers and project teams.

• Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with clients, consultants, contractors and relevant authorities.

• Candidates with substantial experience managing HDB projects from design and coordination through construction, testing and commissioning will have an advantage.
