Chef Roles and Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook, and present food according to recipes and quality standards.
• Plan menus and develop new dishes based on customer preferences and seasonal ingredients.
• Supervise and coordinate the work of kitchen staff, including assistant cooks and kitchen helpers.
• Ensure all food is prepared in compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations.
• Maintain high standards of food quality, taste, and presentation.
• Monitor inventory levels and order ingredients and kitchen supplies as needed.
• Inspect deliveries to ensure the freshness and quality of ingredients.
• Control food costs, portion sizes, and minimize food wastage.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, equipment, and storage areas.
• Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety procedures.
• Train and mentor junior kitchen staff on cooking techniques and kitchen procedures.
• Coordinate food preparation to ensure customer orders are completed accurately and on time.
• Handle customer feedback related to food quality and implement improvements where necessary.
• Manage kitchen operations during busy service periods.
• Ensure kitchen equipment is used correctly and report any maintenance issues.
• Maintain records of inventory, food costs, and kitchen operations when required.
