Lead Engineer – Microsoft 365 & Active Directory

Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Job Overview

We are looking for a highly experienced Lead Engineer – Microsoft 365 & Active Directory with strong hands-on expertise across Microsoft 365, hybrid identity, endpoint management, cloud security, and enterprise infrastructure.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role, not a vendor-management or purely operational position. The successful candidate must be able to independently design, implement, troubleshoot, and resolve complex L2/L3 Microsoft 365, identity, endpoint, and infrastructure issues.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the administration, engineering, and optimisation of enterprise Microsoft 365 environments.
• Manage and troubleshoot Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, and related services.
• Design and manage Microsoft Entra ID / Azure AD and hybrid identity environments.
• Administer Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, authentication, and identity services.
• Manage Microsoft Intune and Endpoint Management across enterprise devices.
• Implement and manage Microsoft Defender for Endpoint and Microsoft 365 security controls.
• Configure and maintain Conditional Access, MFA, identity protection, and access policies.
• Perform advanced endpoint troubleshooting, remediation, and device compliance management.
• Develop PowerShell scripts and automation to improve administration and operational efficiency.
• Manage Microsoft 365 security, compliance, DLP, and information protection capabilities.
• Troubleshoot complex Microsoft 365, Active Directory, identity, and endpoint incidents independently.
• Perform root-cause analysis (RCA) and implement permanent remediation.
• Support backup, disaster recovery, business continuity, and service restoration activities.
• Manage Microsoft 365 licensing, features, policies, and service configurations.
• Work with internal infrastructure, security, application, and business teams on technical initiatives.
• Lead technical implementation, migration, upgrade, and transformation projects.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to other infrastructure engineers.

Critical Requirement – GWS to Microsoft 365 Migration

Strong hands-on experience with Google Workspace (GWS) to Microsoft 365 migration is highly important.

Candidates should have experience with:

• Gmail → Exchange Online migration
• Google Drive → OneDrive / SharePoint migration
• Google Workspace identity migration
• Microsoft Entra ID integration
• Migration planning and assessment
• Coexistence planning
• User and data migration
• Migration troubleshooting
• Cutover planning and execution
• Post-migration validation and support

Core Technical Requirements

• Strong hands-on Microsoft 365 administration and engineering.
• Advanced experience with Exchange / Exchange Online.
• Strong knowledge of SharePoint / SharePoint Online.
• Microsoft Teams and OneDrive administration.
• Strong hands-on Microsoft Intune / Endpoint Management.
• Microsoft Defender for Endpoint and Microsoft 365 security.
• Strong Microsoft Entra ID / Azure AD experience.
• Strong Active Directory and Group Policy knowledge.
• Conditional Access, MFA, identity and access management.
• PowerShell scripting and automation.
• Microsoft 365 security, compliance, and DLP.
• Hybrid AD / Entra ID environments.
• Enterprise-level troubleshooting and RCA.
• Microsoft 365 licensing and feature management.

Cloud & Security

• Strong understanding of Microsoft Azure / Microsoft Cloud technologies.
• Experience with Azure identity, access, security, and administration.
• Understanding of cloud security best practices.
• Experience implementing identity and endpoint security controls.
• Knowledge of backup, disaster recovery, and service continuity.

Preferred Certifications

Relevant Microsoft certifications are highly preferred, particularly:

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104)
• Microsoft 365 Certified certifications
• Microsoft Security certifications
• Other relevant Azure / Microsoft cloud certifications

What We're Looking For

This role requires a true hands-on Lead Engineer who can independently take ownership of complex technical issues.

The ideal candidate should demonstrate:

Microsoft 365 + Active Directory + Entra ID + Intune + Defender + PowerShell + GWS-to-M365 Migration + L2/L3 Troubleshooting

Candidates who are primarily focused on vendor coordination, ticket assignment, or basic M365 administration without deep technical troubleshooting experience will not be suitable.
