Database Administrator (DBA)

Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to manage, maintain, secure, and optimize enterprise database environments. The ideal candidate will be responsible for database availability, performance, backup and recovery, security, troubleshooting, and day-to-day administration.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, administer, and maintain database systems.
• Monitor database performance, availability, and capacity.
• Perform database tuning and optimization to improve system performance.
• Manage database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.
• Monitor and troubleshoot database-related incidents and performance issues.
• Implement database security, access controls, roles, and permissions.
• Perform database upgrades, patches, migrations, and maintenance activities.
• Ensure database availability and reliability across production and non-production environments.
• Develop and maintain database monitoring and maintenance procedures.
• Support application teams with database-related technical issues.
• Perform data migration, replication, and synchronization activities where required.
• Maintain database documentation, configuration records, and operational procedures.
• Support high-availability and disaster recovery solutions.
• Participate in incident, problem, and change management processes.
• Ensure databases comply with organizational security and governance standards.

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• 3–6 years of hands-on experience in database administration.
• Strong experience with one or more database platforms such as:
• Microsoft SQL Server
• Oracle
• MySQL
• PostgreSQL
• Strong knowledge of SQL, database architecture, and performance tuning.
• Experience with database backup and recovery.
• Good understanding of database security, access management, and permissions.
• Experience troubleshooting database performance and availability issues.
• Knowledge of database monitoring and administration tools.
• Understanding of high availability, replication, clustering, and disaster recovery concepts.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and documentation skills.

Preferred / Added Advantages

• Experience with cloud database platforms such as Azure SQL, Amazon RDS, or Google Cloud SQL.
• Experience with database migration and modernization projects.
• Knowledge of Always On, Data Guard, RAC, replication, or equivalent technologies.
• Experience with automation and scripting using PowerShell, Python, or Bash.
• Exposure to DevOps, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code.
• Knowledge of database security and compliance standards.
• Experience working in large-scale enterprise environments.
• Relevant certifications in Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, AWS, Azure, or other database technologies are an advantage.
