Job Summary

The Barista & Assistant Roaster is responsible for delivering high-quality coffee beverages and supporting daily coffee roasting operations. This role combines front-of-house customer service with back-of-house production, ensuring consistency in coffee quality from roasting to cup. The position requires strong attention to detail, passion for coffee, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Barista Duties

• Prepare and serve coffee and espresso-based beverages according to company recipes and standards.
• Operate and maintain espresso machines, grinders, and brewing equipment.
• Provide friendly, professional customer service and handle customer inquiries.
• Ensure consistency in taste, presentation, and quality of all beverages.
• Maintain cleanliness of the coffee bar, equipment, and workstations.
• Monitor stock levels of coffee beans, milk, and bar supplies; report shortages.
• Follow food safety, hygiene, and workplace safety standards at all times.

Assistant Roaster Duties

• Assist in coffee roasting operations under the guidance of the Production Roaster.
• Support green bean handling, weighing, loading, and unloading of roasters.
• Monitor roasting profiles and record roasting data accurately.
• Assist in post-roast processes including cooling, resting, and packaging.
• Conduct basic quality checks (cupping assistance, aroma and roast level observation).
• Maintain cleanliness and basic maintenance of roasting equipment and production area.
• Support inventory management of green beans and roasted coffee.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience as a barista; roasting experience is an advantage.
• Strong interest in specialty coffee and willingness to learn roasting skills.
• Basic understanding of espresso extraction and brewing methods.
• Physically fit to handle light lifting related to coffee beans and equipment.
• Able to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays if required.
• Good teamwork, communication, and time-management skills.

Location: The Five, KPD. Accessible via MRT Semantan.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: RM2,200.00 - RM2,400.00 per month
