Role Description The Staff Research Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Singapore, focused on advancing core technologies for Qubot’s interventional robotic systems. Day-to-day responsibilities include designing and implementing algorithms for device control and navigation, conducting experiments and simulations, and validating performance against clinical and safety requirements. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, including clinicians, hardware engineers, and software developers, to translate research insights into robust, production-ready solutions. The Staff Research Engineer will also document findings, publish internal reports, and help guide the technical roadmap through feasibility studies and proof-of-concept prototypes.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Computer Science, including data structures, software design, and programming for real-time or embedded systems.
• Demonstrated experience in Research and Development (R&D) and applied Research, especially in robotics, medical devices, or related fields.
• Solid background in Physics relevant to mechanics, kinematics, or control systems used in robotic applications.
• Proficiency in Algorithms design and optimization, particularly for motion planning, control, sensing, or decision-making.
• Graduate degree (Master’s or PhD) in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with prototyping and experimentation, including data analysis, statistical methods, and model validation.
• Familiarity with medical robotics, surgical navigation, or regulated healthcare environments is a strong advantage.
• Ability to work on-site in Singapore, collaborate in multidisciplinary teams, communicate clearly, and document technical work comprehensively.
